I work for the Unwanted Horse Coalition and along with The Equine Network, I launched a program called A Home for Every Horse.

It's basically a universal site in which all 501 (c) 3 equine rescues can list their horses available for adoption free of charge. This makes it easier for people who are looking for horses available for adoption- it's one site, one search engine. One free, easy to use site for rescues to list their adoptees.

Purina has generously donated $125,000 worth of feed to our program! This means that we can donate up to 1/2 ton of free feed to the rescues registered with our site! So if anyone knows of any 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit rescues, tell them to sign up for A Home for Every horse (it's free!) and they can get up to 1/2 ton of feed....FOR FREE.

The site is: www.ahomeforeveryhorse.com

Spread the word! Thanks! :)

What a great program! I would imagine there are many rescues who could stand to benefit significantly from this - great job organizing something so impactful!!!!

Wow, that's great!!! I'll tell my friend who's the adoption coordinator for our local chapter of TRF.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get involved with the Unwanted Horse Coalition? I'd love to do something like that!

Not to answer for TortoiseT, but she is in Kentucky horse showing this weekend :-). She works for the Unwanted Horse Coalition as the Director of the organization. She is a super star nonprofit worker & a great advocate for the horse community!

Thanks BGTB :) I got involved at the American Horse Council/Unwanted Horse Coalition almost 4 years ago. When I graduated college in 2004, I first started working at the Washington International Horse Show as one of the directors. I worked there for about 5 years (loved it!) until I got offered the job at the Unwanted Horse Coalition.

Wow, how cool is it that you have a "real" job that is horse related??!! Lucky lady! :)

I told my friend at TRF about the feed/signup, and she's passing it along to the powers that be... hopefully they'll get on board. It'd be great for them to have another site to list their adoptable horses on.
