How did you pick your discipline?; Hunters, Jumpers, Eventers, Dressage, etc

Hmm...I think I settled on hunters because it was what I had the most exposure to as a young child, but i've always appreciated different disciplines and have dabbled.

I've done pony club games, dressage lessons, polo lessons, trail riding, side saddle, jumpers, western, breeding....and was planning on trying some fox hunting with SSR before I done got knocked up. I've been trying to con one of my friends into teaching me how to drive.....I consider myself more of a "student of the horse" than one discipline or another, I just chose to focus most of my competition career on hunters. I like that I don't have to wear a safety vest for it, there's a show any given weekend if I'm game, and that it's pretty laid back. But given enough time and horse resources, I'd compete in multiple disciplines and probably will try to more in the future. I do have absolutely NO DESIRE to ever be a steeplechase jockey or track racing jockey. They are not on my horse bucket list. :teehee:
