So today, a mom of one of my lesson kids told me that her daughter idolizes me and wrote a story about me for one of her classes at school! I almost cried! This little kid is one of my favorites-- she is 7, always has a smile on her face, shows up every other week her in Hannah Montana wellies and tries her heart out. She probably has the most natural ability and determination of all the kids I teach, and her mom says she is properly obsessed with horses.

Another one of my kids, who has physical and learning disabilities, has FINALLY figured out how to get the horse around the ring on her own, and execute a perfect two point, after *8* months of working on these things.

One more figured out her diagonals today, and another cantered for the first time.

Anyway just wanted to share, as it was an awesome reminder of what an influence we can be on kids without even realizing. Teaching beginners is HARD WORK, I am literally dog tired when I get home after 8 hours of running alongside horses, tacking and untacking at lightening speed, standing out in the cold/wind/rain/heat. But seeing these little guys progress and watching the lightbulbs come on is just truly amazing!

And don't even get me started on lesson horses, good God they deserve halos. :cloud9:

That is such a nice update! I loved giving riding lessons, it's something I miss a lot, at least the fun kids riding lessons. I could never teach adults! ;)

LOL I know K, I occasionally teach a few adults and it is HARD!

It's amazing how kids differ from adults.... the kids often seem to have more feel, I think only because the adults overthink too much!
