My guy is such a worrier.I've looked at the pages of vet supply catalogs with calming supplements that promise results. Do they actually work?? Any recommendations? It has to be USEF legal,as I show. Just looking for a little help, it gets frustrating sometimes!

I have had good luck with Smart Calm Ultra, MagRestore and Depo injections.

I had no luck with the smart calm ultra on the one horse I use to have that was super spooky and forward.

I have good luck with medroxy, but only for the day after the injection and the three days following.

The perfect prep equine products have great reviews and Ive heard that they work but have not had a need to use them.

Preston tends to be an overthinker/overachiever type, and I've had really good results with depo. He's not hot or spooky, but his brain is always going 100 miles an hour. The depo really lets him take a breath and focus on what we're doing, instead of what we might be doing in 15 seconds. I know it doesn't work for all horses, but I <3 the stuff.

I use MagRestore, but not because mine particularly needed a calming supplement. Mine seemed very sensitive to touch when she was cycling and would get super distractable. The MagRestore totally stopped the over sensitivity and greatly helped the focus. I wouldn't hesitate to try it on one that was a worrier though... same concept.

I've had good luck with Quiessence and I recently started using Mag Restore and Focus....too soon to tell just yet...but I'm hopeful for good results...another good one is Dynamite's Easy Boy...I've used Perfect Prep for shows with good results...Ex Stress works well on some too

I recommend a loading dose for enough time especially with Mag Restore or Quiessence...especially if your horse is deficient you will need to "load" him in order to replenish the deficiency...some cases for upwards of a month at loafing dose level
