Supersized or not, I still think he's adorable and would love to turn him into my jumper! BUt I agree, 10k is a bit of a strech....I LOVE that grey mare that CBoylen posted.

How was there a thread on a Loti baby and I didn't know?! If he's 17h at 3 yrs, I am going to tell you he is going to be one of the 18h Loti's. Loti himself is solid 18h and consistently produces it with mares over 16h. If he has the canter then you are never going to want to ride anything else but it sounds like he got Loti's trot. Ammy brain, very sensible, easy to train. A really good all rounder. THAT is a typical Loti kid and sounds like you got one. But I will tell you when you look at that face, and watch his eye, that's his sire's dam looking at you. KeyMo stamped every one of her kids and 80% of her grand kids with that eye. Very expressive I can spot it a mile away.

Snackpack, you and I have about the same budget range. They are asking 10k for this one and a similarly bred mare the same age. I think they are both way overpriced.
Thank goodness you say that. I get SO FLIPPING TIRED of people trying to make me feel like I am being cheap with a 20k budget. On what planet is 20 thousand dollars not a lot of money? And I know damn well you CAN get a nice horse for 10k, and people WAY over inflate how much it takes to raise a horse when you have your own property. sigh.
You need to come up here to shop... you can go a VERY long way on that kind of budget here!
That very well might happen. I am not shopping right now actively just waiting for something to fall into my lap. But if I don't have anything hit me over the head I will be traveling out of CA and looking for something either north or east of here.

fwiw I would not expect the gray mare posted to jump well after watching her move. She moves terrible behind IMO. The big guy moves better than her from a jump perspective IMHO.

Well Loti can SERIOUSLY improve just about any mare. You will be shocked how his first born came out after you saw his dam.

Here's another free jumping video. Be as harsh or as nice as you wish. I'm not keeping him. He's just not the horse for me.

SB, I actually like him, he jumps like I expected. I do think he is huge and needs a lot of conditioning and time to grow up and into himself and he will make a nice horse. I'd also worry about those joints.

I would never want a horse that big, but his general type and demeanor is nice, if he were 2 hands smaller I would be all over him :)

I agree with you, especially if he was smaller. He also gets a D- in ground manners. VERY much in your space and a little nippy. Hes too big to behave like that. I was a little surprised because I'd have thought he was handled more. I've had several 2 and 3 yr olds and he's by far the worst on the ground.

For some reason I also like him better in pictures and video than in person. I'm a little bummed because I really wanted to like him.

He's vacuuming up hay as soon as he gets it. Probably cost a small fortune to feed ;) Though he is thin right now.

I'd pass on that hind end over fences. He may learn to push better with more experience and conditioning, but wanting to tuck it like that is not a great sign. The hind end is way harder to fix over fences than the front end.

She's going to make someone a very useful horse. That video was at about 90 days, after she arrived not knowing how to lead. I took her on some of the hunt club trail rides, and she was great. Enough jump for a field hunter that doesn't want to go first flight, and could hold her own in the low stuff at local shows. But not enough to go around the adults at a rated show. Draft blood can be very strong I guess, as she's really 3/4 TB.

Way too big! He's huge already and looks like he's still going to grow alot more. I don't know of that many 17+ hand horses that stay sound past the age of 10.

Alright, don't laugh! My neighbor had this 3 yr old western pleasure horse on trial. She thinks its too expensive so she's not keeping it. Some farrier was over there and said he thought those "hunter people" would love her. So she calls me.

Im going to ride her tomorrow.

I do love her color. ;) What do we think about her conformation for hunters?
