He'll be 3 in April. He's huge now @ 17 hands. I wonder when he'll stop??

I had fun riding him but he'll need a lot of work. He's quite squirrely. He's He was broke and mostly ridden western.

His sire is Lotus T, Holsteiner, and his dam is some draft cross. Odd, I know. I'm working on getting a video online.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, I think he looks like he could be a nice little hunter (okay, nice big hunter). I love how he's marked and it looks like he's a cute mover.

Impossible without seeing him jump. A bad mover with a good canter/jump can do it at the best shows, a super mover at all 3 gaits without a good jump can't do it at all.

Here's a canter pic. Of course these are all pulled from video. He looks better undersaddle I think. In person his head is kind of big and clunky and he has a small eye.

My video says it will be done in 48 more minutes. Ugh.

I doubt he's ever jumped. If I decide to get serious about him, I'll ask if I can take him home for a week or two. Knowing these people, I'm pretty sure that'd be ok. I can test him over jumps then.

I think he is adorable!! I can't wait to see the video. It really depends on how he moves and jumps, for sure. Most draft crosses I know (including mine) jump kind of clunky/boxy if that makes sense especially over the smaller stuff...but I will probably only ever own something with draft in them from now on because they seem to have the BEST brains.

I disagree with K a bit. Skye is a very good mover but I would say an average jumper over anything 3' and under, and had no problem qualifying for our national finals in the Childrens hunters as a 6 yo. Obviously a great jump and great mover are the best, but I think a great mover/OK jumper or great jumper/OK mover can do fine at local A/AA shows and below. So I guess it really depends on what calibre of hunter you're looking for.

What do you mean by squirelly? Do you know what his dam is like and what her breeding is? Is he amateur friendly (if he's a resale)?

I doubt I'll ever do more than the Adults.

His canter was like a rocking horse, so comfy. He's a bit spooky but I think he's been with riders that let him get away with things. He was a little gate sour when I rode today but with a few corrections he was much better. He's such a baby, felt like I was riding gumby!

I've not met the dam. I was told she's teaching beginners to jump at a college a few hours away.

Squirrely like doesn't steer well. Sort of all over the place at the trot. I think with some serious work on my part he could be Ammy friendly. Some of his silliness could scare some Ammy's I know. I'm certainly an Ammy and I don't think he's too much for me. ;) I have no problem seeking help if it became too much.

I can't wait to see some video! He looks adorable. He did look awfully straight through the shoulder and a thick throatlatch and kind of a hefty neck, but if you like riding him and he can pull it together in other areas (consistency, way of going, manners) that's half the battle.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "OK". By "good" I mean good as in okay/not great but not bad. The horse has to pick up his knees and somewhat use his head/neck/back as opposed to jumping over the shoulder/hanging a knee/etc.

I qualify a jump as POOR, GOOD or GREAT, so I suppose OK for me would be "good" vs "poor".

Not that I have made myself clear ;)

Cute, cute, cute! I like him. Moves better than most of the 3' horses down here in TX. He looks super comfy to ride, and a lot of fun! And heck, you know it's got a good lead change, haha.
