Playing devil's advocate since you asked use too.

If she's really 14.1 at the withers already...there is no way she's going to stay a pony.
If she's even at all close to being as downhill as that picture, she's never going to level off enough to be able to jump well.
If she's really that downhill and doesn't miraculously even out, she should never be considered for a broodie

The only way I'd even consider her was if my sole reason in buying was to save a horse from the auction and if I could be happy if she never turned into anything at all.

there's a better pic of her up...

thoughts? It's fine if she doesn't stay a pony, it's fine if she's not a show pony, just just needs to hang out and be well behaved for kids.

Look at this face:

lol trainer isn't being fun this morning - hate it when she does that :) so I think we'll probably pass. ARGH. I am sure someone will get her this morning, if she's still there, we may pull the trigger.

Yeah, for $300 I think it's worth taking a chance. She could be a very valuable lesson horse, even if she measures over pony size. :woot:

So cute!! :cloud9:

She's quite cute. The second set of photos does her much more justice. Looks like she's still but high but at 3 that could just be from a growth spurt and not something permanent. That being said, if she evens out she might not be a pony anymore but that's not the end of the world since you're not looking for something for Maya to take in the larges and rule the world.

She also looks very much like my first horse, Sonney, who was a wonderful QH that came from an auction lot as well. He wasn't a show horse, but he had a heart of gold and was the best teacher.

I'm bad at persuading people from buying horses...

LOL Indy. I like her and I'd get her... trainer has to be part of the deal since she's in with us 3 ways... we'll see if we can convince her ;)

I'm all for you getting her for YOU but.......

A) any type of split I've ever seen has gone sour. I would be very hesitant to go in on anything with one other person much less two. If you go through with this, have an excellent contract in place on who pays board, any vet and farrier costs, ALL be on the same page if there are any major medical costs (keep vs. put down) and what happens if one person wants out. If she turns into a nice pony and one person wants to sell and the other wants to keep but can't afford to buy out their portion - then what? What if things go sour with your trainer or Maya and the other girl decide they want nothing to do with eachother but they own a pony together? It's a mess waiting to happen, but that's just me.

B) Only get her if you can truly afford her as a 2nd pony unless you are OK with the possibility of Maya only having her. If the other two people bail and then Maya can't have a show pony (hypothetical) are both you and Maya going to be cool with that?

I think she's adorable and worth a shot for $300 but maybe not under the circumstances you're describing.

I second that. And its not a good market for resale, so prepare to be stuck with the pony for a while if it doesnt work out.

Also, I guess I'm not sure what the purpose is? You already have a fabulous pony for Maya, and it doesnt seem like she will out grow Goldie any time soon. When she does, chances are with the connections your trainer seems to have, you will be able to find her another free/cheap lease to move up onto. I mean even around here, with only a few H/J barns, my trainer was able to find me two free leases on nice horses when I got rid of Ty-so I had my choice of what horse I liked best. Not to mention if you need a paid lease or a half-lease when Maya outgrows Goldie, can you afford that and this pony?

I'm not sure, even though Maya has been improving rapidily and seems to really gain confidence, that it would be a good idea to stick her on a green pony again any time soon.

I'd wait it out. I sure would be leary of going into a deal with two others because it could get messy quick.

thanks guys, it's really not a pony for Maya so that doesn't really factor in, it's something we'd do for the barn and to save her from the kill pen (but hopefully she'll be saved today by someone). Which is why trainer has to want her, and she doesn't apparenly anymore. Oh well, there will be others and I'm sure someone will save this little one today.

This just kills me.. shiny, mane pulled (or cut, whatever), ears/fetlocks clipped.. and she looks like Clyde. Ugh. I can't imagine that she'll last very long though.

I know Kady, I am 100% sure she will go today, if she doesn't I may have to get her.
