The new job is great! Love the people, love the work - learning a lot and creating lots of power points, and no stress level to speak of (yet).
On the horse front.....I have continued teaching/coaching, and a good friend who has a dressage/eventing barn dared me to come for a lesson a few weeks ago. I did and it felt so good to swing a leg over again. :cheer: She tossed me up on her 3rd level horse :shoot: , so it was a bit discombobulating to be astride a big mover - riding Bri was like water skiing in early morning on a glass lake, very smooth. I plan to start back riding, even if only once a week for now. We'll see what the future holds.

Oh Jaci you are so sweet to ask!

Kena is LOVING school! I am so glad we decided to pull her out of private and put her in public. We had quite a bit of interaction with the administration throughout the summer, and they were very helpful in making sure she ws placed in the appropriate classroom. Everyone has been incredibly nice and accommodating. Her teacher is super cool.... he's about my age, a really laid back, fun guy.

The school is half a block from our house so I get to walk her both ways which is fun. She has already met several kids from our neighborhood and seems to be making fast friends. One of which is a first grader who has become her bodyguard/escort and him and his mom come to our house in the mornings and the kids walk together.

I miss the uniform she wore the last two years at her private preschool.... but she sure doesn't! As you can imagine it is important to be a total fashion plate, even at 5 years old. Today we are sporting Hello Kitty from head to toe. ;)

I grew up in Catholic schools, and had no experience with the public school system. Thus far I'm really impressed. They seem far more accepting and willing to work with a kid/family.... maybe because they have to... but no one has made it feel that way, if you know what I mean. Last year we felt like we were trying to fit a square peg in a round hole and it just wasn't happening. This year I feel like Kena can be herself and will have all the resources she might need to succeed.

So.... that's the school update. How about wee squido??

Bri I am so glad the job is going well, and how great you got to ride!! :)

Oh Hooray!!!!

MissBri the job sounds great (although I am certain Josie is missing you at home!) and I am glad to hear that it's going well so far. :luck: :luck: :luck: ...and you RODE!!!!! :cheer: that is awesome! is the rain effecting you much up there?

Flashy, I am stunned to hear that a public school is doing a better job than a private one. BOO YAH!! I hope that trend continues and I am happy to hear that kena has a bodyguard/friend and a great teacher. Hello Kitty ROCKS!! She was popular when *I* was in school...and that's saying something. lol I remember loving and hating uniforms too. Nice for them to be able to wear "normal" clothes, but the uniforms are so easy!!

I'm wondering if Black Tack floated away during Irene then Lee??? Those gold thongs aren't very good for flotation. :teehee:

Wee squid-o is faring pretty well with school. She is definitely turning into a teenager (she turned 13 a couple of weeks ago), but she is still sweet and easy going. She is playing the violin and doing very well with that, but overall, she hates school and the everydayness of it. I'm afraid she inherited that from both of her parents, but she manages to be a good student and study hard.

We're off to the Highlands Festival in Estes Park this weekend. KMD can NOT find his kilt in the packed goods, and he is most distressed. Poor guy. :teehee:

Oooooopsy, sorry took a bit of time to get over here. Life is crazy as usual. :psycho:

INCREDIBLE vacay kids    Like seriously, if you haven't been - you need to book now :one:

We flew into the west coast, Deer Lake and spent the first 3 days at Gros Morne Prov park and it's spectacularly beautiful. WAY gorgeous. then spent 2 days in the Twillingate area, little fishing villages, went to a local dinner theatre, some hiking but not too much as Irene kicked up a bit of wind :teehee: Then 2 days in Trinity area, historical pretty village, awesome hikes both days, gorgeous, gorgeous. One night in Dildo :innocent: at a B and B that has one of the top 3 restaurants in Newfld. What a cool place and yummy food, gained another 5 pounds :woot: Then spent the last 4 days in St Johns, doing day trips, checking out museums and hiking and eating up a storm.

The second last day we did the Lighthouse picnics at Ferryland which is about an hour drive from St Johns. Hike out about 30 minutes to the lighthouse on the point and get a gourmet picnic including mason jars of lemonade and pineapple upside down cake with warm toffee sauce and a big plaid blanket and go and find a piece of the grass to sit and look out over the ocean while you eat and then nap. Can we say heaven? Finished it off perfectly when a humpback whale decided to slowly swim by us and up around the point. :o WOW.

We saw moose, puffins, a couple of horses and our cute whale. We drank their local beer and visited and toured the brewery. We ate fish of some kind every single day and for most meals. And even after stuffing our faces and enjoying ourselves so much I only gained 2 pounds because of all the incredible hikes we went on. The people are SO friendly and we were insanely lucky with the weather. It rained the day we arrived and overnight one night and that was it! Mostly sunshine the rest of the time!

I do have pics and am just trying to sort them out (all 450 of them) and will get some up. :one:

So glad to hear about everyone else and that they are doing well. Miss Bri, sounds like a sweet ride

Yeah! Some good reports! MissBri has a great job and is riding... Miss Kena is doing great in school... BT had a wonderful vacation!

DD just started her junior year in HS a couple weeks ago and is drowing in homework. :o But I think she is getting used to her classes now.

And little DS started preschool! After all the potty training drama I wasn't sure when he'd start school. ;) He went to the school's daycare program over the summer to get used ot the building, routine, people, etc. He loved it and made some new friends. Now preschool has started and he loves that too. :) He is in an "extended day" program where he goes 3 days a week for full days - preschool in the morning and daycare in the afternoon. Some weeks hubby will bring him home for the afternoon so it's only 2 1/2 days, but it depends on hubby's work schedule. I am still working full time, but glad he doesn't have to be in daycare full time.

Jaci, preschool at our school is a half-day, no matter what class the kids are in, so by going three mornings per week for school, Josh is actually attending as much as the other kids his age. Next year should be kindergarten. :) He was really "ready" for school this fall.

Yes Lauren is riding again. We found a barn that she started riding at in about June. It's a hunter barn, and she likes it. Learning a bit more about jumping, as they have good school horses. (Truman was the best teacher, but due to his arthritis, etc. he couldn't jump too much.) She's taking a lesson a week and enjoying it.

Free time???? What is that? ;) Hubby has more free time during the week now due to his schedule, but I'm still working full time. :mallet: At least he will theoretically get more errands and housework done once golf season is over. :innocent:

Here is my quick update ...

Mr. Diva is still struggling with the results of his head injury. He has good days and bad days, and tries to do more than he should some days.

My son is living with us full-time and he is working, all good. The diva daughter got engaged a couple of weeks ago and is now planning a wedding for nest year, which means that I have to find the most awesome mother of the bride dress ever. Diva step son has switched schools and we hope things will improve on the education front. The diva step daughter has started college -- doing equine studies and LOVES it!!

And me? Well, Tigger is now 20 minutes from home, and I am riding again at least 3 times a week. He is learning how to be a trail horse and how to jump. I have an insane travel schedule this year and a new boss, but I love my job and love what I do.

We still have little spare cash at the end of each month, but we don't care. We are all, for the most part, happy and healthy. I have my family, my horse, and all of you and a house that I love, a d I am blessed.
