Is anyone else on the east coast just DONE with all this rain? Of course Maya is supposed to show this weekend, and has ridden once in the past week and now our indoor is being ripped apart and rebuilt THIS week, so we have nowhere to ride. And the lovely Sidesaddlerider has a nice new horsey for me to ride and it's raining so I can't ride either. I just feel like I am going to scream from the frustration of it. Not to mention the mushrooms growing in my yard and the flooded roads... it's just so dern dreary. Anyone else care to join me in a "go away rain" dance? |

I'm happy to send some rain to Texas, but I'm happy that it's still raining here. Our fields finally have softened up after months of being rock hard and the grass is lush again. |

I know we needed some rain, but do we have to get it all at once? I haven't ridden since Sun. and it's looking like I'll be lucky if my ring is rideable by Friday. Guess I'd better get used to riding less frequently anyway since I have no indoor and work FT and have no lights.

YUP I wouldn't care so much if we had the use of our indoor. Delia, I agree, we needed rain... but how about a day or two and then some sun? we aren't supposed to get sun until Saturday!

This weather is seriously depressing! We can use our indoor, if you like concrete. Thankfully, we are moving by this weekend to an indoor with tolerable footing. *Happy Dance* But this rain makes me want to pull the covers over my head and sleep for the whole week, seriously. And the ponies haven't gotten out much unless you could a little while yesterday. Which at least is something! |

We need the rain so desperately that I don't mind (but feel horrible for TX). My stupid horses did NOT want to come in either yesterday or today! So at 5 AM I have been tromping out to the back corner of the field, where they have been happily grazing in the pouring rain, trying to find them with a flashlight and getting soaked. Grrrrr..... These are the horses that usually act like they will M-E-L-T if they get sprinkled on, so I have no idea what they are thinking. I so wish I had a window at work, though, as I LOVE to watch it rain or when it storms. Darn Pentagon... |

I usually just ride in the rain if I want to - I've had some of my best rides during rain. Case in point, last week with my sis where we saw rainbows, deer by the herds full, a fresh birthing of butterflies, the sun bursting through the dark clouds - it was awesome. We use these: http://www.muddycreek.net/ The long green one to keep our saddles and selves dry. It works. Worth every penny. |

I would ride in the rain if it didn't wind up involving like 6 changes of clothes and, with the grass ring, it's a bit impractical (yay, divots). I need to get back on my horse! |

Maya would ride in the rain as long as its not pouring, but our ring is a soupy mess. It had held off here all day so I was holding out hope that maybe we could sneak a ride in, but alas it just started POURING. I think we're going to go to the barn and at least love on pony and if it's not pouring, she may walk up and down the driveway a bit just to get on HATE rain. One day of rain = fine. 5 days of rain = not fine!

Mine too! Last night when I arrived at the barn they were all extremely mellow and content grazing in a downpour, even though they have access to their stalls from the field and could have come in. Evidently they had been out there most of the day because their stalls were pristine and they hadn't touched their hay. I think they're just so happy about green grass, soft ground, no heat and no bugs! |
