Well they are concerned about the level of inflammatory response in her face so increasing her meds again :-( and adding yet another to the list to help her pass her hairballs too. Hoping her appetite increases once she is off the antibiotic and the inflammatory response dies down. She is lucky I love her cause she sure ain't an easy one... :-S

What are "rodent ulcers"??? Does she have a diagnosed problem that you guys have been dealing with? i seem to recall yes is the answer, but can't remember what she has.

Ugh how to describe rodent ulcers. Yeah she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that basically whenever she has an allergic response and she has many her face under her lips rots away for lack of a better term. Like her lips ulcerate. They can also lose patches of hair. But she does not. Apparently it's genetic from hundreds of years of cays eating rats and getting it from them....

She's just so stinking pathetic....she crawled into bed to snuggle with me this morning with her snuffles...I feel SO BAD for her. I hate this....I hate not being able to make her feel better immediately.

Couple that with noticing that our dog Gavin has grey hairs over his eyes now..... :shoot: :mallet: :censored:

Can't they stay young forever?!

Ick! Nicholas used to get that... the vet used low dosage prednisilone to get it down. He still gets a slightly puffy lip and itchy ears during allergy season, but I haven't had to resort to steroids since I moved west and out of polluted Southern Ontario. He also used to get it in between his paws :spew:

It has nothing to do with actual Rodents... it's just named that because it resembles something else. Essentially when a cat has too many white blood cells they get sent to the paws and lips, because that's where they're mostly likely needed. However if they don't need them, it causes this nastiness.

And yeah, Nicky is pretty sucky when in flares up. The good news is that as long as nothing gets infected, and as long as it doesn't impede an airway (ie on a top lip around a nostril), it's pretty harmless.

You can see where he's scratched some hair off one ear in this one... thankfully that's about as bad as it gets any more!
