OK, so I am so excited, I am signing up for tennis lessons, and might join a tennis club. It's seriously something I have wanted to do my entire life, but never got around to. Now I am 40 years old and looking to get even more fit. My husband was rumored to have been a good player until he found skateboards at age 13, and his 75 year old father is still winning league championships. I admit part of me would like to get the 2 of them spending more time together (and I would like to spend more "family time" too).

So, the fun part, shopping for adorable tennis outfits!

Anyone else play? Any tips? What's in fashion?

Yay, Kassandra! Where did you end up getting in for lessons?

Bring your racquet in February - there are courts down the street and you and Mr. K can play!

Lucky you! I have always wanted to play tennis, but given that no one in my immediate environs does, I've just about abandoned the idea as untenable.

Note: I have always wanted to play the piano and I am taking lessons, so it's not like I deny myself things I want to do, it's just not a practical thing to be picking up at this point.

Love, love, love, love tennis!!! Did I mention how much I like tennis??? :teehee: I use to play a couple of time a week, but it's been quite a few years since I've picked up a racket :lonely: Every year I tell myself...this is the year to start playing again. Hoping 2012 is a better one.

Oh.....I am always glued to the tv when any of the majors are on. Mr. RNB brings me food and drinks....I think he's afraid I'll starve to death 'cuz I won't get up off the couch. :innocent:

My parents play in 2-3 leagues at any given moment, and are ALWAYS at the club doing something. My sister plays occasionally, she was very serious through college and got a little burned out on the sport.

I played as a kid and decided that it was time better spent at the barn. :teehee: I know a lot, but I just don't care to play.

Hmmm. Maybe I move to Virginia, you teach me to play tennis and I'll teach you to knit?

Could work.

I just had so much fun shopping for tennis clothes. I think I figured out why older women who play tennis always seem to look so good, they have to wear these cute, skimpy little outfits!

I really am excited about this new challenge. I just realized how burnt out I am after years of horse drama, both with problem horses and the craziest that seem to be at boarding barns. I am so happy to have Bugzy, but I no longer want the horse thing to be my whole life. The time, the money, the stress, the drama puts stress on everything else. I am even going to force myself to give yoga another real try.

Clever woman.

I also love the tennis outfits, but more than anything, applaud finding other outlets for fun in life. The horses are grand, don't get me wrong, but there is actually other stuff out there that is also kind of nice. I really hope tennis is wonderful outlet for you.

I am thrilled for you Kassandra! I have always wanted to learn how to play tennis as well so it looks like several of us can live vicariously through you. You must post updates and pictures of the outfits!! I agree with RR that their can be outlets in life other than horses. I used to be a runner and then wrecked my knee a few years ago (oddly in a bizarre accident that involved neither horses or running). I am a little over two months back into running and ready for a 5k, and am glad to have another outlet for myself again. I'm trying to be really careful and hoping the knee holds up. I thought about tennis lessons but I worry that the stop/start side to side motion would be even harder on the bad knee.
