Yesterday Gabby and Quinn went to the field trainers. He is about 2 hours away, we try to go every other week but I will be taking them next week too because Gabby needs live fliers before her hunt test in two weeks. On another board I am on we play with google satellite maps and draw the runs the dogs are supposed to do. Here is my attempt. Here is Gabby's land mark she did first last night. It was LONG and dog and duck were out of sight of the handler after they got past the big tree. Gabby "stepped" (term for getting right to the mark) on the mark and flew back with great speed and style. ![]() Then we did water marks. There was about a dozen dogs there so it was not just Gabby and Quinn but we got 3 water marks in a piece. The white line was Gabby's first mark. She started on land crossed water and land back into water to get the mark, then had to return on the same path and no "cheat" and run back on land. She did great. Second was the yellow short line. The challenge in that mark was they had shot live ducks from the spot where they were throwing too, so the dogs were caught up in that scent. The red line was supposed to be the third mark but the sun was setting, it was going west, and it was an extremely hard mark for the seasoned dogs. If it had been a test they all would have failed. So trainer moved us up to the bigger land piece and run from there. However a flock of ducks landed to offer us more challenges. Gabby has never played with live ducks so other than a passing glance, she didn't look at them. Next week may be a different story. She will be introduced to fliers and/or live ducks. Pretty cool huh! Ann
