So, my future step-mother has asked that we decorate my car for the wedding that is coming up THIS SATURDAY!!!! My father is indeed getting re-married and I could not be happier as he seems really in love. However, both bride and groom have been asking for last minute favours and its getting a bit short on time. I seem to recall that you could decorate a car with kleenex? Is there a way to make flowers from them? I just bought my new car....its my first 'nice' car. It has gotten the bird poo protector and a permanent wax (as options) when I bought it. So I think it could handle a few decorations, but I don't want anything that could harm the paint. Do you have any suggestions? I'm already thinking some sort of contraption that drags cans. But i don't want the cans to bounce around and then against the boot of my car. Letme know - if you have photos of handy work even better!!!! |

Giant tissue paper flowers. The beer cans are easy - just make the string really long so they drag far away from your car and they won't bounce up and ding it. Make a "Just Married" sign - you can hang it from the trunk with those little suction cups. If the car has an antenna, hang a pair of panties or a garter from it. |

Isn't the tradition to decorate the bride and groom's car? That way you don't have to worry about messing up your paint! lol I've seen people take oreo cookies apart and stick them all over the car-- no idea whether that is paint-friendly, though! |

hahaha Barn Girl - i have a feeling oreos would be fine, and i'd probably be game for it if i could eat some in the process. However, the car is a dark black with dark black tinted windows, so unless I got the vanilla ones, it would be an epic (but delicious when a bit drunk later) waste of oreos. Good idea on longer strings DQ. I'll have a look at that website. I wish i could remember how they made those flowers that you see all over the place. I know that normally you do the Bride/ Grooms car, but I thought that the procession typically did the flowers all over the car. I'm certainly not having anything on mine that says 'just married' hahaha. I'm not that desperate! hahaha. |

You can buy them in every colour imaginable at the Party Store. With klennex I seem to remember making an acordian out of a few of them, tying the middle, doubling it over and then opening up all of the layers. It's definitely something that the wedding party should be doing while drinking heavily a few days before the wedding. Hope it's a lovely day for it

Do NOT write Just Married in shaving cream on the car trunk..and the sides.....my brother had to have the whole thing repainted when he got back from his honeymoon. Now he thinks it funny. Then..not so much |

MacMtn - i would die. Especially since its not my wedding hahaha. But it is a good story afterwards. I'll have to call around Blacktack, i don't know if there is a 'party store' here in Hamilton. I'll have to check around. My assistant at work has been a godsend in this regard. |

We were just in Ireland for a wedding and they take ribbon and make a V from the center of the hood (like where the car emblem would be) back to the doors. It's actually very nice and not at all over the top. I'll see if I can find a pic. I took a lot but I don't think I got any of the cars. Edited to add- I just looked at DQs link and it's was similar to the cars on there with the ribbon from the front to the doors. The ones at the wedding we were at weren't that elaborate. They had a nice little bow in the front. Edited by justmagic, Aug 12 2011, 06:51 AM.

Just magic, I think i've decided to go with lots of ribbon, and I will attempt to do that front ribbon, but probably just more of a 'V' shape than anything else because i'm not craftily inclined. |

I did it! It looked quite fun. The ribbons in a v-shape at the front of the car tore off when we had to go on the highway but otherwise everything went awesome! We took some photos of the getaway car that we re-decorated the next day - they're on f-book. Thanks for all the help |
