Help with Phone Apps - which do I need?; Preferably Free ones?

Just got a new HTC Trophy - which is smarter than I am. Seriously. I think this thing honestly got better scores on its SATs and everything. I think it could do my job AND ride my horse better. I bow to its superiority. :shoot:

ANYHOO....what apps *must* I have? Preferably free ones...the phone was Free  as an upgrade from my old Satan's Minion phone. But, I have finally figured out where I can search for the things...I just have NO IDEA which ones I should get, which are useful, fun, whatever.

Suggestions please?!

I have an Iphone but I would think these would be available on the Droid
Gas Buddy is my favorite. Will locate gas stations closest to your current location and give you the prices. So you don't have to drive around to find the cheapest gas.

Words with friends- Play scrabble with your friends

Mint.com- mobile banking/financial app

I have an iphone, but am sure most can be found for you as well!! Perhaps my favorite app, well maybe behind Words with Friends ;-) I'm beyond addicted at the moment...anyway off track....is "our groceries" its a grocery list and DH has it on his phone, and it syncs automatically, so you always have your list with you and can create lists other than grocery lists.....granted I'm a bit of a nerd so it may not appeal to everyone!

For my gossip fix, I love TMZ. Gas buddy is a favorite of mine as well.

For being stuck in airports and not being able to do much I bought Monopoly and I like bejeweld blitz as well.

I also have Whole Foods recipe app, and All Recipe recipe app, that are quite convenient. I think both you can plug in the ingredients you have and wala it whips out the recipes you can fix!

I did download the "key ring" app, and while the concept is great (you can scan all of your value card things) it doesn't always work, but the cashier can plug the code in if needed. So I use it, but am not totally in love with it!

When I was running I used Runners log and liked it, I never paid for the one without ads, but it worked well enough for me...I need to get back to that, after vacation I've been slacking!

I also have a couple of weather ones, weatherbug is free I think, but I did score on a weather radio that was free to the first so many people and was supposedly a $10 value...I wouldn't have paid 10 for it, but like it enough!

I think all but the games and weather I've listed are free!

I have an IPhone. I like Gas Buddy too. I also have TWC, there is a free version and a paid one. I don't think it was expensive (under $5) but honestly do not remember I bought it years ago. I find the weather app to be pretty reliable. Grocery IQ is the grocery app we have. It has coupons too! I LOVE solitare and I have a couple of solitaire apps. I have had my IPhone for about 3 years I just upgraded to the IPhone 4 I have had most of my apps since I first got my phone. Lately I have been 'buying' some better apps, for like an agility record book etc. IF you buy apps what I recommend is you get some ITunes cards, they come in $10 and up. I log in to ITunes, load my card and shop with that I never use a credit card or anything that way if someone takes my "money" it's just what is left on my ITunes card account. I find it safer.

I also have Pandora, I have not used it much, I have not really figured out how to make it work for me. However it is a good app.

I have an iPhone too, and since I am cheap and refuse to pay for apps all the ones I have are free ones.

I have
- Facebook (obviously ;) )
- Pandora radio, which I use almost daily
- TWC because it's better than the weather app that comes with the phone
- MyFitnessPal for logging food/exercise
- PawCard for keeping track of the horse's vet/farrier info and dates
- GasBuddy
- PS Express, it's photoshop for your phone pictures. I use it sometimes to crop or brighten a picture if I'm uploading directly to facebook.
- Moonlight lite, a mah jong game. Has the most puzzles of all the free ones I've tried.

I only keep them if I actually use them, so those are the ones that have had good longevity for me.

I just got Eat St. It tells you where to find food trucks in whatever town you are in. I haven't used it yet but I'm guessing it would be great for DC.
