Arrgh, I felt something under my foot in the shower, looked down and it was a huge brown spider!! It feels funny (not painful) where I was touching it so I don't know if I got bitten or am just having creepy crawlies where I touched it.
No visible bite mark
I have no health insurance and no $$

How much risk should I take o wise TOC'ers??

Yikes!!!

No idea what to do....... if it's a "wolf" type spider, I don't think it is particularly dangerous. Not knowing what you might have down south, though.....can't say for sure....

(Move to CT) ;)

Benadryl is probably never a bad idea in times like this..........

Hope the southerners can chime in!!

Ok, I am totally creeped out and may never shower again. Can I tell you how much I HATE HATE HATE spiders? yuck yuck yuck...
I guess if it does not hurt, and there is no bite mark, I'd forgo the dr. But I am not a dr, nor do I play one on TV, so keep that in mind if you listen to my advice!!

It sounds like a garden spider. You should feel special since I don't think they bite very often. Everything is trying to get inside from the heat, so I bet that's why it decided to visit. If you start feeling off or funny for any reason, or if the site swells or any other irritation develops then take the bag and go to the nearest big ER.

oh trust me, there are plenty of big spiders in CT! Our first house in CT was infested with huge wolf spiders. My dog used to chase them -- she thought it was fun, I thought it was disgusting. I was so creeped out by the time we moved.

Ahh this whole conversation is creeping me out! I used to move and wiggle the shampoo bottles and conditioner in my shower in aus for fear something would be 'chillin' underneath or in between before I got into the shower. I was always safe, but still.... what a creepy thought. Kudos to you for not loosing your mind and actually keeping it. Hopefully it was nothing!!

We just came back from the cottage - those of you on facebook can see, the dock at our cottage had mad dock spiders. Thankfully in the heat of the day they were hidden, but the boys enjoyed jumping up and down on the dock to try and bring them out......it was super nasty.

One day my brother's gf jumped in the lake to go swimming. Right by the dock ladder there is some seaweed that you can basically avoid if you swim to the deeper side of the ladder. The bro's GF is terrified of the spiders and the seaweed. Well, wouldn't you know it, when she tried to get out of the water, there was a spider who was happily sunning himself on the ladder and to get out any other way she'd have to swim through seaweed. He thought she was never getting out of the lake. hahaha. She did eventually brave the weeds....... ;)

Take a picture and send it to me. Sounds like it is a common southern house spider (depending on spidey's size) but don't worry too much about the bite. Just some general discomfort but nothing life threatening.

I was just looking up spidies the other day because I smooshed one trying to climb on my pillow to watch the movie on my laptop. I think it had a thing for David Boreanez! ;)
