I can't make decisions for you... and I am in MI. I spent a few winters in Westchester NY, they were not as bad as MI.

Unless they have a freaky snow, and the folks at the farm should be able to tell you what an average winter can be like... I think your 2WD could be fine. Currently I have a 4WD Explorer, but I rarely use it. Hubby had an F150 (2WD) for YEARS and never got stuck. However he did put weight in the back of the truck for the winters. You will see people drive around with fire wood, not often for their fire places :teehee: When I was in Westchester, I had an OLD 1972 stationwagon, it was HEAVY but 2WD often I drove the family car, a Volvo sedan. Most winter places do clear the roads pretty well when it snows.

Took me a minute reading "no turn out" that has to be a farm only thing. Probably as someone mentioned due to lack of space. Growing up the barn I rode at had no turn out. We didn't lunge a lot either. We all got pretty good at riding ones that bucked. LOL Ah to be young again. Our horses did pretty well without turn out, however they do much better with it. We would turn out occasionally in the indoor arena. Lastly we turn out all winter in MI unless it rains and freezes (paddocks sheer ice) or RIDICULOUSLY cold (below zero actual) we just blanket them up and let them out. If there is snow on the ground they come in with fabulously clean legs, and if they roll their blankets are often cleaner too... At least for a while... after snow there is ALWAYS mud.

Good luck with your decision. I love the state of CT. I would love to move there. It is very very pretty.

Ann
