Yay! I love the pictures! His dad is very handsome!!!! <3

Some judges are weird, it's true. I really liked the judge at BT's dog's specialty that we saw -- he really looked all the dogs over and gave them all a really good chance (I thought) to show their strengths. I've had a couple really good judges w/ Gimme but once we had a judge who clearly wasn't looking at the puppies. She literally turned her back on us during our down and back! And when she judged the winners bitch she didn't even look them over; just gave the win to the open bitch. Then brought in the 2nd place open bitch for reserve and never looked again at the other dogs -- practically handed her the ribbon on their way in the ring.

It does make you wonder. I would think that your judge was looking primarily at side gait and wanted to see them moving from both sides (hence the triangle). Personally I think they should look at movement, of course, but not really evaluating the dog stacked might hide a conformation issue -- e.g. in brittanys, a dog that is too long in the loin will often be a better mover than one that isn't. But the standard is very clear about the body being "short and cobby" and it might not be as obvious if you don't look at (and feel the rib placement) of the dog while stacked.

So a good judge should do both. :)

Glad Sako was a good boy!!! :cloud9: :cloud9:

Thanks :) Here's a great one of his dad,

I just love him, he's such a handsome, sweet boy. He got a 3pt. major yesterday! My breeder took a bunch of pictures of him & Sako meeting each other, hoping some of them turned out. She's on her way home from the show so hopefully will upload them in the next few days. Sako's Aunt got a 3pt. major today as well, so a great show for them.

My friends breeder had that same thing happen to her with one of her Rottie pups. She went for her down & back and when she turned to go back to the judge, the judge wasn't even looking! So she just stood there and waited LOL.

I'm just happy I wasn't the only one that was like "WTF?" I know that I'm new and learning, but this guys "style" was just WEIRD. The triangle was so small that I have no clue how he'd even judge the larger breeds gaits.. it was just off.

Glad the show went well and it must have been fun seeing him together with his Dad and Aunt! Family affair :cloud9:

You certainly find lots of judges that do things differently. and then some that are so nice and helpful and others that are...welll..... NOT :innocent: It is frustrating when you don't feel that you are getting to show your dog off to their best :pissed:

At the last show, on the last day we had an older judge from Florida. His wife judged the Sweeps in the morning and was very nice, direct but friendly. Then he came in with a fedora on and flashy suit and not as friendly. Had the handlers all do the bite check which is unusual in our breed. We watched him watch one of the handlers (not in the present class) as she walked down the outside of the ring and he didn't pay ANY attention to the dog that was going right then. Like NONE. Just watched this pretty blonde walking along. :o We couldn't believe how blatant it was and yes she did very well later on!

Typical of any super subjective judging, you win some and you lose some....bit like the hunters that way ;)

Ugh see, that would've driven me nuts. You PAY to go into the ring, the least the judge can do is give you 2 minutes of his/her undivided attention.

I realized I hadn't updated this in forever.. so here you go.

We went to an AKC puppy match yesterday and Sako beat 5 other pups to win Best Puppy in Match :) It's not worth points or anything, but we did get $25, and it was good practice. Here's a cell picture that Eric took:

We have UKC Nationals coming up in 2wks., and he'll be shown in the puppy class there. He's only 30pts. & 1 competition win away from his CH. so hopefully he gets it at Nationals! There's an AKC show coming up in November that's only 25min. from my house, so I'll probably do that.. we've held off on AKC for awhile because there's rarely any competition for pups and for him to go in and show with the adults right now is just laughable since he has SO much filling out to do.

No recent stacked shots.. I'll get some soon :)

Yay Sako!! How fun is a puppy match! :) How old is he now? Hopefully he'll finish his UKC championship when you are at the nationals - that would be awesome!!! :cheer:

I think of you every time I look at the show results from my area because there is an Am Staff bitch that is just killing it up here! Numerous BIS and generally gets a group win everytime she shows. I just looked at her show record on infodog and she finished her Ch. from the 6-9 puppy bitch class and actually took a G2 out of that class. Can you imagine? That's unreal! She was BIS this past Saturday again. I don't think they can keep their website up to date! ;)

But she's a beautiful bitch and I've seen her in person several times:

He's 10 months now, well, closer to 11 months (turns on Oct. 2nd). It'd be great to finish him there!

Gotta love the Castle Rock dogs.. I love them. I've heard of Maddy and her accomplishments, she is just amazing! It's funny too, she was born on my birthday :) Their new pup, Luna, is from a good friend of my breeders (she got a female from the litter as well). Small world.
