they are very competitive BT and it's NOT good. They can never share a pony, they don't even show in the same division anymore, principally because the other girl cannot tolerate losing to Maya (Maya on the other hand is used to losing to her LOL). They are the best of friends most of the time, but get very petty about riding and ponies. It's very sad that she lost her pony, but this is our trainers daughter and there is a farm full of ponies, so it's not like she has nothing to ride. Just not THAT pony, who was a very special pony. Maya has been great about it but it's getting to the point where the other little girl is making a point to say Bomber likes her more, that stupid kind of stuff. Petty 7/8 yr old stuff. I totally agree BT, and when she put on that face, I said, fine we're going home. I can't stand drama. Really is it the one thing I cannot abide. Of course she begged to stay and show, and all was well in the end. |

he is being very good Mamy, he has a great brain I can tell. The soundness issue is still there and that's our big hold up. He has a big canter which scared Maya a little today but I think it's because she's not used to anything but Lil Zee's barely cantering canter

I think they're going to make a great match! And oh my, you do see his belly swaying from side to side when they're trotting away! Methinks Bomber will be staying in the Jenny Craig paddock for quite some time. Edited to add that regarding the canter, his way of going probably is more upright than Maya's used to, which can put her off balance until she figures out where the center is.I'm really sorry to hear about the little kid drama. It must be particularly hard since it's the trainer's kid. Edited by Delia, May 23 2011, 04:27 PM.

yes definitely it is Delia, although Star had the same way of going and she would gallop all over the ring. I think she just needs to get used to it again. He also hops into the canter which she didn't like. Part of the issue though is that his saddle had slipped - he's so dang fat I can't keep the saddle in the center of his back (next stop, non-slip pad). Yes he is still quite obese. You can set a picnic on his back It's ok with the kids, I mean she loves this other little girl, they're best friends, but it's tough that they are so competitve with one another and it's tough to be the trainers kid and have to share all the ponies. I get it, but still can't deal with the drama. |

See, I don't think he looks that fat.....clearly we don't *do* ponies. I think he looks cute!!! Haha...maybe I just like fatties. They are very cute together....he looks like a nice little dude. Yes, I guess I can't complain that my kids aren't more competitive, but sometimes they also don't try very hard. It's sort of annoying to watch. But definitely could be worse....I keep falling back on that "trying to instill a lifetime of loving horses & good horsemanship" thing since they don't seem to be all that interested in being *great* riders. Course I'm not so great either...maybe that's why I try to muck stalls really well.

LOL TBF, he didn't look so bad to me from a distance, but the top down view, HOLY COW. His back is as flat and wide as a table. Trust me, he's obese ![]() I think that your kids are fine TBF. Maya was complaining last night that she didn't win a class for the first time since February so we had to have a discussion about the fact that our goal was to get over 4 jumps in two classes and stay on, all of which she did. She also got her leads and came in 2nd to a very good older girl from our barn in the eq flat class. SO she got great ribbons, just no blues. More importantly, she rode amazingly well and that is the battle. not the ribbons... ARGH. Edited by MayaTy02, May 23 2011, 04:56 PM.

more importantly, doesn't he have a GORGEOUS tail? How many horses would kill for that??? I think it distracts from his big butt!

I would kill for his tail! Particularly since somebody ate the bottom quarter of Nelson's tail last week. He now has like 10 strands of hair that fall below his hocks.

He's definitely cute...and definitely fat. I can see maybe a little bit of something as far as soundness. Maybe have her try cantering him in two point at first. One of our lesson ponies has a very up/down canter (she's an arab) and it's hard for the little ones to sit. They usually learn to canter on her in two point first...and then sit later. Backwards, I know..but it works. Bomber's tail is magnificent. Just gorgeous. Let's not forget what's Elf tail looked like when I bought him: ![]() His tail is almost to the ground now. (sad thing is the white doesn't really show much anymore. It's still there, just hidden behind the rest of the length.)

lol snacky, I'm so glad Elf has a tail now! What do you see in this video? This is his good direction. I don't want to post the bad direction because I have him on trial but if someone wants to take a peek, let me know and I'll send it in a PM. The plan is that we're going to ride him this week, see if we can get him more fit, then decide if we want to do the PPE next week and take it from there. Owner says he is always like this after the winter off and works out of it, so we'll give her the benefit of the doubt, then see what we have going on.
