There was an outbreak in my area several years ago, and everyone that I know self-quarantined (big barns and little barns alike) - no horses in or out of the property, no horse shows, etc., until there were no more active cases in the area. At my little barn, we closed the field that shared a fenceline with a turnout pasture for the boarding barn up the street. We also set up a chlorine bath in the driveway that everyone had to step into with their boots + wash their hands before entering the property. And I went to the feed store to buy grain rather than having them make their usual delivery, although my barn only had 4 horses so it was manageable that way. |
