Heh, well Henry was a big goof ball. We got a do-over on our down and back in the class, but he was SO much improved from our international show, I was really happy with him. Bite inspection and fondling was NO PROBLEM. The other dane got best of breed, but she was a year old and a real show dog. It was also warm and I had been running him around trying to wear him out, so he was panting and drooling the entire time. I will say when we went back in for breed I THINK that he actually gaited at some point. Which gives him a pass for crawling under the steward's table and laying flat on his side and trying to take a nap while we were trying to go in for breed....
That sounds very normal. :cloud9: :cheer: Not only do a lot of puppies get a "do-over" for their down and back, but so do a lot of adults. And those pros and experienced handlers take one themselves anytime they don't feel they showed their dog off as well as desired.

Under the stewards table sounds like a great place to nap on a hot day!!! Henry is no dummy!! :teehee:

I had a Great Dane in my handling class and I always felt bad for the handler because the ring seems so small when you have a dog that big. Trying to get in 5-6 trot steps before you're at the end of the mat....not so easy for such a big dog!!!!

Yay Henry!

And dog show clothes shopping -- always remember to bend over and check the mirror. :teehee: Front AND back! (Or bring a friend to help...it's not so easy to see your own butt while bent over unless you have special mirrors!!)

I totally noticed this. Poor Grace LOL. Although sometimes I feel like I'm going around forrrrever with Sako, since I can just walk with him as he gaits.

Indeed that was a concern, particularly since these rings were smaller than normal. Or, that is what I am going to go with. God help me if that was a standard size ring; I much prefer the one we have handling class in!!!

Those rings did seem small to me, so I don't think it was just you!
