Ok, I'm not really afraid, but I've had three weird scenarios in the past couple of weeks. Scenario 1: I wake up and my hand is itchy. I think that I've gotten mosquito bites but as the day progresses it looks like little cut marks (like with a razor or something) on the back of my hand. Definitely not mosquito bites. I joke with Mr. Fishy that I've been attacked by a vampire bat (not a vampire human). He of course has to tell me that there are no vampire bats in the US and besides they are so big that I surely would feel it. I comment on the National Geographic shows that I've seen that people actually DON'T feel them and regardless of what he says about them not being here I think one sucked my blood. Scenario 2: Last Saturday night. In the middle of the night I feel a blunt force to the bottom of my foot. It hurt so badly it kind of knocked the wind out of me and I got up to go pee and felt the bottom of my foot. It felt a little wet but not like it was dripping with blood so in my sleepy haze I just went back to bed. The pain persisted for a while and it was hard to me to get back to sleep. In the morning when I woke up I looked at the bottom of my foot and it looked like I had been bitten by a snake (see attached picture)...or a vampire human. It didn't hurt anymore and there was no swelling. I could not figure out what it could have been other than a vampire or a snake. I don't know how (or why) a cat would have done it. Scenario 3: Last night. In the middle of the night something bit my hand. I woke up with a start from the pain and lie there trying to think what happened. Then I felt a small something crawling across my belly. I flipped the covers up and jumped out of bed and turned the light on. All the cats were interested in what was going on so it had to be some sort of rodent. I didn't see anything so I went to pee. When I got back I turned on the ceiling light and saw a mouse who was tucked kind of under a throw pillow that was on top of the bed. I assume it was a mouse, but it was a BIG mouse. It didn't look like a rat, though. So I got my cup from the bathroom and grabbed a magazine and covered the mouse and slid the magazine under and put the mouse outside. What is going on? I guess it is spring and my cats are bringing in their favorite toys. But come on!!!! I don't live in filth, I swear! What could scenarios 1 and 2 be???

Fishy, you are the bravest person I know. If I had felt something crawling across me in my bed, I think you would be able to hear the screams all the way from here to California. My guess is your kittehs are bringing some late night snacks to bed with them. But they are not dead snacks, just slightly stunned. |

Whoa, Fishy, that is more than a little creepy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do the doggies sleep in the room with you? Maybe bring them up and see if they perhaps scare away whatever creature is hanging out in your room.... I have this irrational fear of aliens... I hope it is not the little green men sneaking into your room at night!! |

I am totally creeped out. I do not think I would be able to sleep in my bed any longer. Sadly I have no thoughts as to what it could be. But holy cow... YIKES! |

It's totally the aliens. And now they've got your blood and your skin grafts so that they can clone you. And they DEFINITELY implanted a tracking chip into your foot.

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm with Little Diva....my screams would be heard 'round the world if I had had what you did! Now, here in Arid-zona and out in the boonies where I am I'd be SKEERT it was a rattler! Where YOU live, I would wonder about rodents...not to freak you out but incisor teeth in rodents can make that sliced look happen if they bite...DO check your house for various "rodentials". I would personally turn my bedding out, turn the mattress over, move the bed frame and double check there's nothing living UNDER it or along the baseboards which may come out at night. As to small itchies on your hands...you sure you don't have bedbugs inhabiting your place? They can be easily missed! Do a clean and hunt job! OF course, Headless is right...s'gotta be Bigfoot OR it's the Grey Aliens. |

We do have rattlers out here, too. Haven't seen any yet this year. We only had one in the house once and silly drunk me picked it up to get a closer look. Mr. Fishy is the neighborhood rattler relocater. Call us crazy but we don't like to kill them.Good idea to do a big sweep of the room. When Mr. Fishy gets home I'll enlist his help! |

First I second the strip the bed including the mattress pad, and the bed shirt. Pull the bed out from the wall and I would probably up end the mattress and box springs and look all over. Buy a fitted mattress cover at Walmart (cheaper there than anywhere in the bedding dept.), then reassemble the bed and make sure you do hospital corners or tuck in the bottom and both bottom corners. If the kitties had a kitty door then close it-they have lost the right to scare mommy to death. If you have any curtains or blinds search them thoroughly. And if you wear slippers than check them for inhabitants too. Also, have a long talk with the puppy about the sacred duty of terriers to off anything in the house, and if the cats don't reform they might be available for chasing too. If you found one mouse from the kitties then you probably have had more than one from them. Or maybe a lizard or something too. I hope you find out what it was and it doesn't happen again. Now I know why I always sleep better with my hands under the covers. |

Zowie!! Definitely do a room sweep, with some assistance. I don't kill snakes either, so I'm with you there. Well if I got bit I might lose my temper, but otherwise, I'm a no kill household.** I agree that you are quite brave. And your house animals are quite nonchalant about rodents, snakes, and aliens. I *know* they would alert you to a bat, and have thus ruled that out as the culprit. ** except for some bugs: flies and mosquitoes are sentenced to death upon arrival here but spiders and ants are welcomed or relocated, respectively.

Oh yeah, my screams would be heard far away!! You are much braver than I am. I'm betting on something the cats drug home. If it was me I'd lock them out of the bedroom!!! One mouse in the bed would be one mouse too many!
