I'm so thankful that you were right there, and totally prepared! That is seriously scary.

Isn't your mom the retired nurse? (or not retired nurse)-now is the time to find a great, world class allergist, and pediatric specialist at a big Children's Hospital. I hope you find out what triggers this, and it's smooth sailing from now on. I'll be keeping you and your precious one in my thoughts.
And if nothing else you could look at the Top Doctors list (I think on US News & World Report, and I think Good Housekeeping has one also) to find out who's available to find a diagnosis for your little one.

I could cry just reading that. I am so sorry. If it is a true allergic reaction they can get worse each time. I am so glad you had an epi pen.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

    for you and baby C. How is he this morning? I know exactly what you are going through, having had a son who had severe allergies as a young child. I spent many a night watching and listening to him breathe and I spent more time than I can remember racing through the night to get him to the hospital.

:jingles: :jingles: :jingles: that they get to the bottom of this darn quick and that he is feeling better today.

Just wrote a post but lost it..... thanks all for the kind words and good wishes. I'm really PO'd at the world right now, I would love some peace and quiet for my kids' sake. I know sh!t happens but come on.

Thankfully he is a perky little dude this morning. He looks like hell but is busy playing with sister and he's certainly in good spirits. He slept well thanks to the benadryl and ate a great breakfast.

OTB I hate to say I was relieved hearing Mr. OTB has angioedema, because it sure doesn't sound fun, but I was. Cause he seems to lead a very full and busy life so that makes me feel better, that if we are in fact dealing with that Colton will be ok. So the epi pen does work for him? How long do his attacks last? Does he have any GI involvement? PM if you prefer (and if/when you have time)

Jan yes my mom was a pediatric ICU nurse for many years. Unfortunately she is dealing with some major health issues of her own and was hospitalized last week. She was released earlier this week but has some intensive outpatient treatment going on now for the next month or two. I'm trying to insulate her from my own personal drama as she's got enough on her plate right now. :(

We have to follow up with the allergy/immunology department at the Children's Hospital today so I'm hoping they will see him ASAP and get the testing done quickly too. Then at least if I know this is an allergic issue and what the allergen is then we can avoid it.

I also feel kind of irrationally guilty today, as I have a pretty cracked out immune system and clearly Colton got it from me. It is odd we have dealt with both Kawasaki's and now this all in one year, the ped even said it is just awful luck. I guess it would somehow make more sense if the kids were actually genetically related but they are not, so it truly is just crappy circumstance. On the positive side, Makena is doing beautifully, so that is a blessing. Now if we can just get Baby C sorted out.

While it is easy to understand how a parent could feel guilty
about passing on to a child a medical difficulty, please
remember that no person is in a stronger position to help
a child learn to cope with a medical challenge than a parent
who has direct experience with coping and overcoming
such a challenge.

Oh my gosh Flashy, I can not believe you had to go through that.   I am SO sorry. And don't you dare feel guilty! EVERYONE passes good and bad genes on to their kids-our genetics can't be perfect. Just like you take the good with the bad of anyone you love. And don't forgot you saved his life by reacting so quickly with the epi pen.

:jingles: :jingles: :jingles: for baby C, you, your Mom, and the rest of your family. I so hope you guys can figure out what's going on with him :luck: :luck: :luck:

FG, huge hugs. I can't even imagine the frustration and feelings of "Why me?" right now.

Please replace your Epi Pin first thing this morning. With everything else going on, you don't want to be caught without one.
