That dog is his littermate and his owner also thinks Gimme is much nicer. But she said "All I wanted in my showing career was for my puppy to beat Gimme once, so there. We're done". They were 3rd and we were 4th. But watching the video - I do wonder why she didn't like us more. I will say, though, that he was overstretched in the first stack and she actually mentioned that she wanted to see side gait - so maybe she thought he was too straight in the stifle. Once you plant the seed of a defect it makes it easier to see it, even if it's not there. Who knows. Of course I'm biased too. Haha. I'll have to ask the breeder what she thought. Hard for her, though, as they are both her babies.

I just saw this now Trial!. What an adorable picture of the two of them. I think it's almost time you got another puppy, no? Are you guys showing this weekend? Tarragon? I know Kady is We went down to set up today and check out who the other dogs were. I was so hopeful that Keefer wouldn't be there, He's the top affie and hes stunning so we don't have a chance against him. He is showing on Sunday but not Sat. He won group today and probably BIS. However there's another special Sat and she is handled by her owner who is a well known judge. So, that's it for breed the two days. There are a couple of other class dogs though so with any luck we can pick up another point time to start the bath

Oh, good luck!!! Where is the show? ![]() Gimme's dad showed last weekend and had a BIS and a Group 1 and some other group placings -- I think it was 4 shows over one weekend? But it was so tiny....I think only like 200 total dogs or something? Not that its' not worth having, of course! But wondering if they'll get to any bigger shows up there? It seems like some of them are kind of small in comparison. We're not entered anywhere.....I am thinking of entering another specialty show in Maine in June....my breeder thinks we should and try to go for some big majors.....but it's so far away. Definitely worth the trip if you win, of course, but not so much if you lose...... We'll see....I haven't decided what to do yet. Hope you get a point or two out of the weekend, and of course if you can get a BOB..... ![]() (PS yes, isn't that an adorable picture? And NO we're not ready for another puppy!! Spent a fortune at the vet this week just getting shots and heartworm/flea/tick treatment). Good luck Kady & Tarragon (if you're showing) -- and Casey too!

Love the Gimme videos - and that picture, too cute! I thought it was sweet that the judge in the 2nd video gave Gimme a little pat on the butt after he felt him up. And you handled your trip with grace!

OK I checked out a few shows and I'm assuming it's Southgate Endor Mystic Shaman or something like that? Shows in Quebec? I'll say he had a good show, Group1 on 3 days and a Group2 on the 4th day and 1 BIS. Not too shabby! You should ask the breeder if they will do any Ontario shows> I think there's a Brittany specialty next weekend here so maybe they will come to that? Ya we have alot of smaller shows 250 - 300 dogs. Ok, I have to go and walk Finn in the rain after grooming him for copious numbers of hours But he will be sporting his new rain coat that I just got in the mail yesterday from www.nonudehounds.com

Yes - that's him! ("Paploo") I'll have to email his owner to see where he'll be next! I'd love to go watch him.....he's a handsome little dude. And he actually is sort of little...and Gimme's mom is sort of tall (actually taller than his dad!) Weird! Love "nonudehounds.com" I'm sure very necessary after all that grooming though! Take a picture!!! Gimme needs a "butt snood" to keep his derierre feathering from getting ruined while crashing through the bushes. Do you think they make those??? ![]() Can't wait to hear about your weekend!! Go Finn!!!!!!!

Nope, it's about a 6 hour drive for me Pretty close to LD though. We had a pretty awesome day today and got some really lovely compliments on Finn man It was the L-o-n-g-e-s-t day possible though but luckily I had optimistically prepared for it and packed a lunch for us and some food for the tried pup. He showed at 9:15 this morning and since we had to be there an hour early, it involved leaving the house at 7 Anyway he was Winner's Dog for a point and then Best of Opposite Sex and Best Puppy in Breed so we carried on to the Group where he won Best Puppy in Group I was so very proud of him and thrilled to get one of the big baby blue ribbons and hear the kind words from the judge. This was at about 9:50 and then we realized that it meant that we were staying until Best Puppy in Show at the END of the day Luckily we were very close to a great little town on the water and went for some of their famous Perch for a late lunch. Finn came with us for a break from the show and slept the whole time He was really good in the BPIS class and it's so nice because they open up the rings and he could finally really move but another puppy won it. The Bull mastif pup that is just gorgeous won and he had also won it the day before. Really great puppy When Finn was getting his picture taken at the end with the judge though she mentioned to my handler that she was flip flopping between Finn and the other puppy and he was a very close second. She really, really likes him and is excited to watch him mature. It was a heck of a long day but sure worth it to hear such nice words. He was a bit of a nut, cantering and playing alot during the first class but got better and better with each class. He slept the whole way home! Tomorrow we show at 3:30 with group right after so it will be a significantly shorter day. |

Good luck to Kady & Sako this weekend! Logan and I aren't showing for while, I want him fill out a bit and not be quite in so much of a gangly teenager stage, especially since there are absolutely no other puppies out there and he's only going up against adult dogs. There's a supported entry in Greenville, SC at the end of July and I know we'll be showing there because I have to support the Chessie friend that's running it, and I've also agreed to handle a Golden Retriever puppy for a breeder friend there (what am I thinking???). I'm trying to decide if I can afford to go to our National Specialty Show in September. It's in Harrisburg, PA so it would be a 800 mile drive each way plus a hotel room for 4-5 nights. I'm spoiled since I'm used to going to shows with my group of girlfriends and the thought of spending all that money on a room for just me just seems silly TBF, if you do show in Maine you'll have to look for York River or Von Hausman Chesapeakes- Logan's breeders are from Maine and they'd probably be at Maine shows. |

Yay!!!! Finn!!!!! Such a great day!! Can't wait to see the pictures!!!! OMG...almost Best Puppy in Show......that's a HUGE compliment!!!!!!!! We haven't been at a show where they do "best puppy"....not sure how it even works -- do you have to be Winners Dog from a puppy class to advance??? Can't wait to hear all about tomorrow too!!!! Congratulations on a great day!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() That IS a long day, though....honestly, I do wonder how the professional handlers do it because I find it SOOO exhausting!! I think that since they are not all their own dogs they don't feel that *emotional* connection -- e.g. desiring to give the dogs a "break" from the show, or get them out of their crates so they have some fun. But even still....looong days on your feet and in front of judges. Tarragon -- you know, you'll probably be totally cool & collected showing someone else's dog. I showed another dog last month at the specialty and it was amazing how different it was. OK, maybe because they had already won Winners Bitch it was different...not much pressure. But I have offered more than once to take in any dog if my breeder is conflicted and I doubt I would be so willing if it was as stressful as showing your own -- Gimme's breeder has finished probably 100 dogs in her career (or more?) but only one of her own, even though she's owned quite a few. She never shows her own dog because it makes her nervous and not very confident. You'll probably win with the Golden!! Yes, lots of $$ for the Nationals but such a different experience. I'm considering going to the brittany nationals -- in Arkansas!! But it's not *just* a dog show.....!!!

Ha ha ha ha CDE, that's hilarious Does she REALLY want to teach him that? And why is he SO thirsty? Or is it just a game Love it!So, we did have another great day and managed to finish darling Finn so he is now a Canadian Champion I am rather proud to say the least! He was Winners Dog again but this time also went Best of Winners for another 2 point Major He also was Best Puppy in Breed so went on to get Best Puppy in Group and once again went for Best Puppy in show (but got beat by a lovely standard poodle pup). This time we showed at 3:20 and were out of the show after doing pictures by 4:45. Much shorter day, lucky us. Finn is exhausted, slept the 1.3 hours drive home and had dinner and is zonked again. He was really unfocused today and I'm not sure why. Still showed well but just not his usual happy focused self. We had a significant temp drop from yesterday, like 20 degrees so that might be part of it. Who knows. So, we are entering our first outdoor show in a couple of weeks as a Special. So we know we will lose because now we are against all of the Champions. However then we get to go against the puppies for Best Puppy in Breed so will give that a try. He's only 10.5 months old and I am so proud of the little guy. I did get formal shots done both days so will post one when I get them back. And we may just head down to a New York show mid June if the handler will go Tarragon, you NEED to go to Nationals, are you kidding??? Heck ya

Of course I don't know much about actual breed standards so my opinion doesn't count for much. And I guess I am a tad biased.....
