Sir Elton looked a bit rough, David looked lovely.

You will too when you have a 4 month old at home.. ;)

I taped it and watched it when I got up....it was nice...her choice in Tiaras was perfect for her....simple but so elegant...that belonged to the Queen Mum...so that was nice....I'd LOVE to go through the Queen's tiara chest...She's never worn the one Kate picked...SO Katie said...

Her sister looked fantastic and she's super pretty....

Andrew's kids look like DORKS...and I agree with most of y'all that they looked HIDEOUS.....

For someone who didn't really care if I watched it or NOT...I'm glad I did...

HH :)

I just watched the whole processional back to the palace.. So far I have not seen a loose horse. This is the taped version obviously, so they may have cut it.
Google "loose horse at royal wedding." No it won't have a clip of Beatrice and her hat ;)
Just a few seconds, but you can see the riderless horse. I heard on CNN the rider is ok, and the horse got back to the barracks just fine.

KMD even got sucked into the BBCA one that I taped simultaneously and re-watched. After watching it the second time, the loose horse looks like they actually had him being ponied after he got away the first time, then he escaped the second time. I tried to look it up, but can only find falls from the practice session the day previous (there were TWO!).

AFW...my Mom thought it was underwhelming as well for "royalty". To each his own. :) I thought it suited her style and made a "modest" yet elegant statement.

One thing I would like to say and have commented on...the very reason QE2 is QUEEN today is because her uncle abdicated the throne to marry a DIVORCEE, Wallace Simpson, which then placed her father on the throne. Divorce has never been allowed. Does it then become a double standard to allow Charles to become King for basically doing the same thing? For me personally the only was he could EVER redeem himself would be to pass his title directly to his son.

Perhaps I just don't LIKE Prince Charles and find him to be a completely useless, tactless, spineless bore with no redeeming values. :P I prefer Camilla to Charles ANYDAY!

Thoughts?

You must be eating peyote ;)

The monarchy will have to look long and hard before passing by Charles. If the public opinion dictates who should be the soverign, they might as well get elected. I for one would vote for Princess Catherine to be Queen.

I concur with Jaci about Charles, but can't stand Camilla either.

Funny thing about Beatrice and Eugenie....when you guys brought them up I kept still picturing them as little girls and had no idea that they were all grown up!

...but they already passed by QE2's uncle...or would have had he not absicated the throne, right? So what's changed now?

Couldn't the QUEEN bypass Charles?

Oh yes and here is a link to the video of the lose horse. This is after I saw someone along the parade route holding him and petting him, and it LOOKS like he broke away from these guards ponying him after that. It's quick...so look fast. ;) Apparently both horse and rider were unharmed.

OOOO and a link to pictures and an article!

but ...

.... but

When Charles married Camilla he was no longer divorced. Wasn't he technically a widower?

They didn't just pass by Edward. He was King for a period of time, THEN abdicated the throne, and QE2's father George ascended to the big chair. Edward and Mrs. Simpson went on to live a life sucking the royal treasury dry in Bermuda and various locales around the world.

QE2 cannot simply bypass Charles by waving her magic wand (or scepter, in this case). The chaos that would ensue (can you imagine the Parliamentary procedures?) would serve no purpose, IMO.

I'm not a fan of Charles OR Camilla, frankly but :tomato: I'm at least two generations removed from having a say in the matter. ;)

I don't have anything to add about the succession discussion... I have never had much feeling for Charles, but it's not my decision nor my country.

I saw just the processional and vows this morning before work and I just wanted to add that I also loved her dress. Elegant and classy.

LOVED the dress. So perfect. Modern yet elegant and attractive.

And as for the horse... well... remember last fall when we did a barn trip to Spruce Meadows, and the working student came home, LITERALLY, with the best souvenir? No, seriously. He had a week of leave and followed her home.

He turned out to be a total d-bag... so we've decided that he was the one that came off. 'Cause it would be too awesome and karmic. :teehee:

I've got a TOUGH question for all of your smarties. How come the mounted guards have to sit to the trot, but the guys riding the carriage horses get to rise (post) to the trot?
I forgot to ask that earlier.

Hmmm. Well, they're called "Postilions" - maybe it's just tradition? Any maybe why it's called posting? I'd never given it any thought!

Did you see the saddles? With all that padding and fluff I would be surprised if they felt anything. The carriage riders? Not so much.
