Wow Diva, that's a super short drive and no traffic!!! Fantastic! Why don't you give Helen a call and see if their office knows of any good barns around that might be needing boarders? Her partner Karen might be able to help with trainers who are good with bringing along youngsters since she has done that for years.

You must be so excited. I just look at moving as a great time to sort and priorize "stuff" and great rid of unwanteds :teehee: We absolutely will be coming for a visit, hopefully next summer when the coldness and snow is wayyyy behind us :innocent:

Black Tack is exactly right. Be ruthless and get rid of the clothes you haven't worn in years, the furniture that won't fit or is totally unused, and the stuff that won't ever be used (we all have it). No point in moving something and then getting rid of it-I don't care how much you think you cleaned out you still get rid of something after you move (don't ask me how I know that). And if you only need to get the big stuff moved then you might consider something like Two Men and A Truck or other smaller firms that charge by the hour instead of by the entire move, and many sell used boxes at a real discount for customers to pack their own stuff. I have usually moved my own kitchen stuff, knick knacks, clothes and valuables (especially the vital files, and things like blank checks and other easily disappeared things). The best way to move yourself are the plastic storage bins, with snap lids you can get fairly cheaply at Walmart, etc. You can move a car/truck load at a time, put everything away, and repeat. You can save a bundle and you don't have endlessly look though boxes for stuff, because you unpack as you go. Also for bookcases, entertainment centers, and other things with pins to hold the shelves up, put the stuff on the floor, pile the shelves in the bottom of the shelf unit, and pull the pins and put in ziploc bags labeled by a description of the item they go with. Carry the shelf pins with you and put in the room the furniture they go with will go in. And don't forget to change the locks the second you move in-you never know who has a key, and it will give you a chance to rekey everything to one key, and see if you need additional deadbolts or if the knobs etc are in good shape. And if the interior knobs are old you can easily change them out yourself-a heavily used interior knob may not last too many years, and you might also want a matching set throughout the house (especially since the little door opening emergency keys may have disappeared by now).

Congratulations, and enjoy your new house. I'm so happy for you.

The person who is purchasing my house is doing their inspection RIGHT NOW...I am so nervous!! We have kept the house in good shape, but the carpet is a little worn in a few spots, and that is about the worst of things. I just want it to go well so this whole process continues along. We are having the new house and septic system inspected tomorrow :luck: :luck: that it goes well too.
