So since this is like, the dog forum now , the cats are feeling left out.I took a swing at trying to take pictures of some of the shelter cats today.. phew.. they are A LOT more difficult than the dogs! It's mostly because of the lighting, since you can't take them outside (outdoor light is the best for pictures), so you always have to use a flash. Anyway, here are some of them: Jefferson ![]() Stormy ![]() Joe Joe ![]() Olivia ![]() Bronx ![]() Clarabelle ![]() Chu Chu (he was NOT amused LOL) ![]() Michico ![]() Natalia ![]() Moe

What pretty kitties! Especially Mr. orange up top. One day we'll get Riley a kitty companion. He likes them more than other dogs (unless they're tiny dogs, and I'd rather have a cat). Maybe once we're settled in the house. |

Great job on the photos, kady. It's so sad that there are so many fabulous kitties needing homes. At the Cat Corner, we have over 70 cats and kittens available. We are not even putting anyone on the waiting list right now. Good luck to all the critters trying to find their new humans. |

Thanks ![]() Yeah that's not even 1/4 of them I think.. not sure how many we have, but there's a lot, and the waiting list for adult cats is like 3-4 months. A lot of our cats have been there for years, poor kitties Although, they have it pretty darn good! Pretty much all of them get to free roam all day, so no cages, which is nice.

I am *sort of* looking for an indoor cat for my parents.... age isn't a huge factor... Requirements: Male Neutered Good in the house (litter trained, doesn't scratch stuff, doesn't spray stuff, etc). Must be friendly to a neurotic older scaredy-cat female cat (she does NOT appreciate being ambushed). Must be a lap cat type. Must be fine being indoors 24/7. (my parents male cat - who they had since kitten age - HAD to go outside for a good several hours every day or he was NOT a happy cat - he was definitely a personality. He was in our yard one day last year when a neighbor's loose dogs that were running through the neighborhood attacked him. As such, my parents only ever want a 100% indoor cat from now on. Sydney roamed our yard very happily up until that point, and he was MISERABLE if he didn't get outside). Anyone have anything that fits this description? My folks are in NC. Yeah.. about 20 Seriously, there are SO many nice cats at the shelter. The cool thing about this SPCA is that 90% of the cats there are allowed to free roam the cat room, so they generally are all good with other cats. I can ask today (I'm going to do dog pictures) who is a lap cat type though and get back to you

I like stormy - look at those bright blue eyes. Too bad I'm allergic to cats. I have read that russian blue's are hypoallergenic, but i'm not game to try it out. I'm scared i'd bring it home, fall in love, then get symptoms

Ex-BF is allergic to cats, and he has been around mine for 6yrs. and is still alive I've never heard that about Russian Blues. Siberians are supposed to be hypoallergenic (or at least have less allergens than most cats) though. They're gorgeous. |

For those who are allergic to cats ... I thought I was too! When Elinor showed up, I had itchy eyes, sneezing, runny nose, rash where I'd touched her, etc. It was awful! I lived on Zyrtec for a while. But then she got her "in from the wild" bath, and that helped *enormously* ... three months later, my only allergy symptoms were itchy eyes, and that only happened if I petted her and then rubbed my eyes or something. No Zyrtec needed. ![]() She gets bathed about once every 6-9 months, which she tolerates but is NOT fond of, and that helps too. But I just wanted to relate that, just in case. ![]() I'd love to figure out whether Elinor is cool with other cats. I wouldn't mind getting another one at some point. |

OLR - i don't think i'm that lucky. I have the minor annoyance symptoms of itchy eyes and excessive sneezing. But then after about 3-4+ days, I get breathing symptoms which get progressively worse the longer I stay 'living' around the cat. I don't think I could ever own one unfortunately (unless there was a miracle breed). They are pretty. My aunt had 2 (now just 1) bengal cats. They are stunning to look at. Not all that friendly but.... |
