Has she worked for you?

I gotta do something after the graze-a-thon at the VMTB reunion.

Thanks for sharing

No Jenny Craig words of wisdom, but I feel your pain.

I had my baseline weigh-in at Weight Watchers at Work today. Before lunch. :o

Sigh. :lonely:

ETA to fix a fat-finger spelling mistake. Even my fingers need Weight Watchers apparently. :teehee:

OH man, I hate to be a broken Record DQ But the ONLY thing that works is a lifestyle change. Just cut out all processed and artificial foods, and Work out.
ZUMBA!!!! Go find a class in your area, you will have a blast and burn fat like mad.
Jenny craig like all the other ones are temp. You spend a bunch of money and once you stop buying it if you have not changed what you eat. it will come back on.
I found for my self, that so many of the foods that made me fat I do not miss at all.
And I crave exercise. It works its a slow and steady progress. and you have to think of food as a fuel for your body only not comfort or boredom.
And that it is something you want to last for many many more years. So you cut out all the junk and fake food. I did it so can you.
Email me if you want support. Best of luck! (((Hugs))))

No wisdom here (as usual)
Ever go to WW? I have friends who swear it changed their lives... and eventually body too.
Your PCP might write you month-by-month scripts for Phentermine. Do your homework, of course ;)

I'm with Sannois on this one. I think there is nothing wrong with using Jenny Craig as a platform for getting in the habit of eating differently, but it is an expensive platform. And just a crutch.

The real kicker is changing your daily habits. As someone who SWORE when I was a child that I would have ice cream sundaes for dinner when I was a grown up and then lived that lifestyle, I can tell, it is not easy to change. I was pondering this just the other day, I am would guess there were YEARS during my grown up life when a fruit or vegetable did not touch my lips or otherwise disturb my digestive system.

But, I married a man who was appalled by my eating habits. And then we had children. And I most emphatically do not want my children to grow up with the kind of eating habits I had ( :o ). So, I changed.

I used an on-line support group. They are a group of eventers in Area II who started a Diet Pool umpty million years ago. I joined, lost the weight I needed to lose by eating less, eating better and exercising more and have maintained the weight loss ever since with relative constant vigilance and continued support from the group. Basically, if I weigh more than 3lbs past my goal weight at the end of a ten week period, I sacrifice $50US. Been doing this for years now and it works a charm.

I am lucky in that I have "skinny genes." I have never been more than 15 pounds from my ideal (with the exception of the months immediately post-pregnancy) and I have been blessed with a high metabolism. That said, getting older slows you down and the pounds creep on. If you let them creep, they don't go away by themselves.

Best of luck to you! It is hard to face the reality of our slowing, aging metabolisms, but fighting back with a healthy lifestyle is your best bet for longevity!

No advice on Jenny Craig, but I just started Seattle Sutton this week ( I think it's similar ). I'm on the 1200 calorie per day plan. The biggest 'aha' I've had is the portion size. Mr Snaffle is doing it with me and we are both surprised by the quantity of food we have been eating versus what we should be eating.

I'm busy and don't take the time to plan healthy meals. I like that someone else is now doing that for me. Most of the food is pretty tasty, but some of the lunches have been really icky.

We are just planning to do it for a short time as a jump start and to help us re-learn what and how to eat.

I agree with Sannois and RR

When I go food shopping I stay away from the middle of the store - only around the perimeter. very little breads, rice, pasta. lots of veggies, fruits, nuts. Instead of sauces, I use spices. If I have a craving for some baked sweet, I make it from scratch. Eat my treat, then give away or freeze the rest. READ LABELS on any package you buy. I also watched portion control. have a large salad first, with very little dressing (on the side and dip works well). wait ten minutes, then eat a small entree, slowly. Go for a walk or do something else away from the food for a half hour. It takes your body about twenty minute to register it is full.

When I needed to lose 40-50 pounds, I did my own modified starch/carb free diet. for six months. basically cut out all sugars, starch, carbs for the first two weeks (very hard) then started to introduce minimal amounts. In the second month, I allowed one free day every week where I could eat anything I wanted.

When at a gathering where there is all sorts of goodies, I stick to the veggies and maybe a handful or two of nuts, a couple of slices of cheese. When going out to eat I stick with fish or meat and a veggie and salad - dressing on the side, sauces on the side or a spice rub on the meat. Small amount of butter (although now I don't even use that) instead of margarine. Much healthier for you.

I have kept the weight off, and now really don't even think about unhealthy choices (well except for fries :teehee: ). I NEVER (or very rarely - like maybe once/twice a year) eat Fast Foods.
The fad diets and quick weight lose schemes may work, but as soon as you are off them, the weight piles right back on.

I am staying pretty steady now right about 130 - which is ok for me at 50+ and 5'6".
It's all about changing your eating habits and watching portion control.

Good luck! YOU CAN DO IT!  :cheer: :cheer:

I dont miss anything except Brownies, and a big bowl of Spaghetti. Neither of which I have had in a year. But someday. maybe just one homemade brownie.
I have so many pairs of breeches that fit me now, Gee I should tide more! ;)
