Hey Dr. JF -- My barnmate is heading down to WEG tomorrow through Monday. Do you have any recommendations for tasty casual restaurants within a reasonable distance of the Horse Park? Thanks! |

Well I'm not Dr Jersey Fresh but I can tell you Le Deauville has wonderful food and you can go in jeans, riding clothes etc. Also Billy's Bar-B-Q is OUTSTANDING! (get the mutton) |

Thanks JM! I'll pass those recommendations along. I'm really wondering now why I didn't plan on going down there myself.

Sorry I just saw this! What sort of food? Ok my personal favs include: Malones- 3 locations around town (the closest to the KHP would be down near Hamburg off I75) they have really good steak! Harrys-its the barn attached to Malones and they have great martinis and a small bar menu but I love their sliders (they have burger ones, fish, phily steak and my fav buffalo chicken) Ramseys-4 of them around town, they are a diner that has homestyle southern food. I love their fried green tomatoes and their catfish (and I am not usually a catfish fan). Oh and their pies....yum! Dudley's on Short-pricey but lovely, lovely place. I took my mom and dad there and they really enjoyed it. They had great lamb and veal, I personally loved their odd "Living Green Salad" and they have the best desserts (Banana Churros. 'Nuff said). Mexican-I know the KHP crowd loves Jalepenos, but there is a little joint off Nicholasville Rd in Landsdowne shopping center called Mi Pequena Hacienda that I think is the best around town. Doodles-downtown, open just for breakfast and all local fresh ingredients. Get there early so you dont have to wait. Supposedly for Italian, Bella Notte on N'ville Road and Guipsseppes are really good but I havent been there. Let me know if you need any specific type restuarants. I just listed a few of my favorites =) JM-I havent tried either but now I am intrgued by this Billy's place....I am a true yankee turned southern girl and love BBQ! |

I know-I'm so excited! Also, I wanted to say, most of those except Dudleys are casual. Then again I wore jeans with a nice shirt and was fine. Ramseys is the most laid back and they do 2 for 1 bar drinks! If she googles it, she can get directions from there. They are all within 20 mins of the KHP. Also, if she gets on 75 and goes towards hamburg (few exits up) there are tons of restaurants but they are mostly chains. there is a harrys and malones there with a patio bar and I highly recommend making a stop there! |

Dr JF you def have to try Harry's. I love B-B-Q and their's is really good! I'm keeping your list for when we go to show next summer because even though there are a ton of restaurants in Lexington we find we always go back to the same few. I also second Ramseys. I couldn't remember their name Have fun and post pics!! |
