Ok, so my big job interview is tomorrow. I've been a recruiter and on the other side of the situation many times but now I am waffling over what to wear. It is almost a billion degrees here so my regular choice of suit would be too hot. Last week for my "pre-interview" I wore a skirt and sweater set which I thought was appropriate given how the others in the office and the boss were dressed. I could wear a suit tomorrow and carry the jacket over my arm, or I was thinking of wearing a skirt and matching top (or complementary sweater set). I've worn both outfits in a professional office before so don't think either would be out of place, but of course I want to make the best impression I can. The boss-lady was wearing linen slacks and blouse when I went in last time.

I would do the suit. Heels, pants nice blouse. Carry jacket. If you're a skirt wearer...or that is what your suit is...do that. I think even without a jacket, the suit separates should be just fine

ooh, late to reply! I agree with Snacky....wear the suit (pants or skirt), and carry the jacket. You'll look put together but don't have to be quite so uncomfortable. And who knows, maybe they'll have icy cold AC and you'll want the jacket.....? Too bad it's so unbearably hot...that is miserable.

Good luck!!! :luck: :luck:

I'd wear the power suit- you could always take the jacket off.

Good luck!!!

I vote suit as well, you can always remove the jacket if you feel overdressed.

Well I wore the suit and I think it looked good. The interview was very short. With my x-ray vision I could see a list of interview candidates on the desk while I was waiting and there are four final candidates and I was interview #2 for the day - we were blocked off in 30-minute increments with 15 minutes in between. They tag-teamed me with the superintendent and her two assistants (one of whom is leaving) giving me a list of questions that they then asked. It was short and . . . sweet? They did not ask me if I had any questions which is a bummer because I had a list of them and I think that asking intelligent questions can make one candidate stand apart from the other. I did give them a list of my references. They asked my availability to start and if the hours work for my schedule. They said they hope to make a decision really soon (like tomorrow) and that I should hear from them soon. So that is the good news . . . I won't be waiting for two weeks while they fiddle-faddle around and talk to more and more people. I know they want someone in there asap.

My bosses are going to FLIP OUT if I leave. Especially if I give two weeks' notice because, well, I'm out of the office next week so it would really be one week of work that I'd be able to do before leaving. Sigh. My bosses had their chance to keep me when I asked for benefits not once but twice. I won't ask a third time.

Getting ahead of myself here...perhaps I should get the offer first! :teehee:

So TOCers, please send me mighty jingles!!!!

Fishy, jingling HARD for ya!!! Can't believe your current bosses won't do something in way of benefits. I mean I know it is hard for small companies, but you can't expect people to stay on nowadays not having health benefits etc.

Keep us posted!!!! I'm sure you did awesome!!
