Can you use the HE detergent if your machine isn't HE? Mine is sort of sucky. It's front load, apartment sized, stackable, and both the washer and dryer make noises and shake half the house. Which I guess is what happens when your house was built in 1870 and isn't exactly the most, uh, balanced thing in the world. The washing machine guys had a great time trying to make it stack up evenly. This week it has decided to get repeatedly stuck on "suds" even though I am not using much detergent. I'm trying to avoid calling the landlord. |

Trixie, that was the first indication that my filter needed to be cleaned out because it wasn't draining fast enough |

Where is a filter? Is this complicated? I'm sort of skeered of it. |

Finding the filter - on my Kenmore there was no filter to clean out. On my LG there is an opening on the front of the machine (little door) where I have to drain the water out of this little hose and then I can unscrew the filter. If you can not find a filter to clean you just might want to run the machine with no clothes in it. You can sometimes use white vinegar or a little bleach to start with and then put in some detergent. I would use hot water to clean the machine out using a normal wash cycle. |
