We are getting a new front load washer delivered tomorrow (not a moment too soon :jaw: ). My question is, I have always thrown in a scoop of OxyClean with each load. Can I still do that with the front load? It appears that you are only supposed to use liquids in it.

Any other tips?

Hmm... not sure about a front load but we have a new top load HE washer and it's ok to use the Oxyclean powder... it just says to put it in before the clothes and not to mix it up with the regular detergent. I don't use Oxyclean all the time (normally just whites) but I use it with Tide HE and it seems to be fine.

I do. Well, I use Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda. You do have to get the hang of tossing the powder in with the clothes, if you do it wrong it all bounces back at you. ;)

My only complaint with my front loader is that it doesn't offer a "Spin" cycle by itself. So if you wash something heavy (like a comforter) and it doesn't spin out completely, you only have a "Rinse & Spin" option. But maybe that's just my brand.

Probably just yours - mine automatically goes to a spin cycle. Dunno about the oxiclean though.

This one has different spin settings I think. The guy was funny, he said one should be called "Spin The Living Daylights Out Of The Thing"! :teehee:

Glad to see hubby got smart about anniversary gifts and made it a practical one. Run Dyrk! Run! You might want to dodge a little as well those bullets have a harder time getting you. LOL

Congrats on the new toy.

No LF, no practical gift giving! My Mother's washer died and we had to replace it ;)

I only use the liquid that they recommend and have found everything to come nicely clean. I use alot less detergent than I used to and the clothes dry much quicker after being washed in the front load. You may find you don't need the Oxy Clean with every load CDE.

I had to look a bit but did find a separate spin cycle. For me, it's when I don't have a big enough load in. My machine is happiest when it's FULL.

They do like to be packed full! I sometimes use oxy in mine just fine :)

On the spin cycle, when I bought mine I didn't pay that much attention to it - it is annoying to have to rinse and spin as opposed to just spin but I have found that the extended spin will suck the water out of even my heaviest horse blankets!

This will however be my last front loader. I've had way too many annoying issues with it. My mom has one of the newer HE top loaders without an agitator and I really like it. So far, fewer issues with it!

I mix the OxyClean in a small container with water before I put it in my front loader. I have never put it in dry. I guess I am afraid of it gumming up and sticking on the clothes.

What kind of issues Kikki? Mine is quite new but I really like it so far. I didn't get the pedestals after hearing Jilli complain about hers going off balance so often and I haven't had any problems at all so far. ...just heading off to find some wood to knock on :innocent:

Don't get me started. :( I still can't get mine balanced no matter what I do or who I call. Strangely, hen it goes off balance (only with heavy loads), I just switch it to the "rinse and spin" cycle and it usually takes care of the problem without me having to unload the thing and re-load it.

CDE I would only use what they rec so no powders. It will gum up your machine over time. They do make some liquid types now that are He safe and Arm and Hammer makes one for He with oxy in it. I use that. :) Make SURE it says "He" on label though. You can use MUCH less and it won't gum things up.

Jill-I found that if I put it on permanent press instead of normal/regular that it spins slower and makes less vibration. A friend says for heavy things she uses the gentle or delicate cycle and that stops the rattling too.

I have used powder additives - just tossed it in before the clothes. No problem. Very little works well in a front washer!
