I had a Lesson today and it was good:) This is my trainer from W.V. and she said that my fault is being picture perfect all the time.......and that I should move with my horse. I have videos also. I need to open my knee and toe out. She worked with me on the lungeline with no reains just a neckstrap.

Cute pictures! It looks like you're a nice team, and having fun!

I like a trainer who works with horses on the lunge line; it seems a lot of the larger lesson barns don't do this (of course it is more work for the instructor and obviously private lesson only), but they should. My younger daughter learned to trot on the lunge line and she's pretty stable for her age and experience.

My older daughter [who has never done a lunge lesson] fell off our mare last week and it was a good example of her really not being as secure as she needs to be. It's one thing to ride "correctly" and/or look good on a horse that is behaving well, but all horses can be bad/trip/make mistakes, and you need to be solid in that saddle. The mare wasn't being *good* but she wasn't deliberately trying to get her rider off. She pulled down and forward with her head and pulled my dd right with her; then the next head toss sent her right off the horse.

I'm curious if others have more experience with lessons on the lunge or if it's just my area where trainers don't use it? I think it's a great tool.
