Boy, the mods have mellowed with age! I think I got slapped on the wrist for asking about show shirt sizing once.

I have both a black and brown leather belt. The brown is the one with the nameplates. I am old school. I love that. :)

OI I'm with you on the no belt thing. I can't even wear my jeans without a belt - strictly for an accessory though as my middle-aged paunch holds my breeches firmly in place. :censored:

Maya, I think that a nice plain, thin leather belt would be fine - whatever the color. If you're concerned about drawing attention to your waist just stick with a thinner belt (1" or so)".

Kikki - I have an addiction to those ribbon belts - and now I want more of them! Those are <3 <3 <3

I wear a belt with everything too.

You can go to your local fabric store and buy thick ribbon and belt ends, and make all the ribbon belts you want for like $4 a piece. Did you need to know that? Did you need to be encouraged to have more? :teehee:

I can't hear you!

Secretly embarassed to admit that I've done this, then bought extra ribbon to trim the baby pad. :point:

I've always worn a brown belt, my black stud belt or my black rivet belt. Rivet belt has silver, bronze and gold rivets. Roomie broke the studded belt. Grrr. Is my rivet belt completely out of style? Remember, us west coasters are usually two years behind you Easties. :P

I HAVE to wear a belt with jeans. They are always too big in the waist by the time they fit in my thighs. I don't wear a belt with my slacks. Most of them don't have loops and for whatever reason, they fit correctly in contrast to the jean problem. I NEVER wear a belt with breeches unless I'm showing and then I always wear one. :D

ok so now I'm loving some of these ribbon belts, but how do you coordinate with your shirt or coat or what? I'm wearing a navy coat, light blue shirt and TS green/beige breeches - and god knows what on my feet :)

As long as you have a belt, it really doesn't matter. Personally, I am not a fan of the ribbon belts. I think they are cute for the little kids, but I prefer a nice brown or black leather belt. I have had the same Hermes belt for a long time.

gotcha bearhunter, I'm 41 yrs old so I don't want to look like an idiot. I like those belts Kikki had linked to just to wear around with jeans, so I thought I could maybe get one that does double duty but you're right, i should stick to simple.

:) It's probably like the sparkly magic wand crops -- if you're going to carry one, you'd better be a) really adorably cute; or b) ride really darn well.

;) Just kidding, I know you can ride really well.

But there was a little girl in my dd's lesson group once who would show up with her own sparkly crop (and she was 10, so a little old to be "really adorably cute" with a sparkly crop). But she looked better than she could ride, and it certainly didn't go over very well with the trainer. She'd *smack* *pull* *smack* *pull* and eventually the trainer took the crop away and told her she'd get it back when she learned how to ride well enough to use it. Ouch. :) Her dad should have seen that coming, but somehow he thought she was still adorably cute with a sparkly crop on a pony.

LOL TBF, Maya has one of those crops too, but only for schooling, plain black bat for shows :)

I am sooooo out of style it's unbelievable! I never wear belts, don't own one that fits since the last time I needed to wear a belt was quite a few lbs ago :innocent:

I have one of those crops! It's purple (and I am neither adorably cute nor the world's best rider), but I bought it to use at home because I figured no one would dare steal it :teehee:

We have two sparkly crops in the crop-bin at the barn. One is pink, one is blue. I prefer the pink one, it makes me feel fancy. Plus, they're a great length and have good poppers on them so they make excellent beating devices.
