I know the seat measurement is supposed to be button to the middle of the cantle, but where on the button, middle, near side? far side? i got my daughter a Beval LTD on ebay which was advertised as a 15 but there is no way, it's either a 14 or a 14.5 but I am a measurement bonehead. Help!

I measure from the front of the button. I don't think it comes in a 14.5.

I've always measured from the center of the button.

There really shouldn't be that much of a difference should there? Unless the buttons are gigantic?

The biggest saddle buttons I've ever seen were oval and were about 1/2" across. :psycho: :psycho:

MayaTy, the Beval seat measurement is usually printed on the girth guards (if the saddle still has those). In some brands, it is also printed either on the stirrup bar or as part of the serial number.

But regardless, sounds like you ended up with the wrong size. :(

no girth guards or any markings at all other than the Beval LTD plate and button. I think I've determined it's a 14. The one thing I know for absolutely certain, is that it's definitely not a 15. It's ok, I ideally wanted a 14.5 if I could find one, or a big running 14, and if this works just even for the next 6 months, it's ok, I got it so cheap that i should be able to resell it. I would like to get a discount from the seller though since she didn't disclose some condition issues and the size :)Thanks all

I have to say that my Beval 14" runs small in the seat and short in the flap - it's exactly what I was looking for. When I bought the 15" (same model, etc.) it looks HUGE in comparison to the 14". I thought that my 9 year old was outgrowing the 14" until I sat her in the 15" and she's swimming in it!

interesting Ibelieve! Well we've decided it's a 14...and it fits her. She hasn't ridden in it yet so we'll know in two hours if we're keeping it :) The good news is that i got a great price, got the ebay seller to give me a credit because it was the wrong size and the condition was not as good as she said, so all in all, if it fits her now I'll keep it. Probably will be able to ride in it for at least a year or two so hopefully it will at least be sellable when she's done with it. Thanks guys.
