I understand that The Old Habit is closing; you might want to check if there is a possibility of getting a used pair that will work as an interim for you. A bit of a long shot, but it would serve until you find something better (if they have what you need).

Thanks Robin, I was just there about two weeks ago and didn't see anything that would work, but worth a call.

yeah well at this rate TBF I will not be allowing pictures of any sort! I might break the camera :) Well the Devon Aires came and they are HUGE in every way. They are way way way too big at the top of the calf, like gapping significantly. I am starting to think custom is the only way for me :(

well the wide calf is still an inch too small for me, unless they have a really stretchy elastic gusset, which i can't really tell from the pics. Do you have these boots?

I do have them and they stretched out quite a bit. You might try the next size up as the foot bed runs a little small. The gusset did stretch too...

You got it... I re-read the beginning of the thread and noticed the calf size. If you try the 9-9.5 and put a insole in them it might work. I had them stretched a bit too. Good luck!

thanks, yeah I'd definitely do the 9s but still would need alot of give. How much did they stretch when you had them stretched? People keep recommending them to me but I can't see how they will work. I do love my Grand Prix half chaps that fit perfectly though!

I think they run a little bigger than they say... and they stretched quite a bit. I lost some weight and went down to the regular calf (from the wide). I measure 15" on the dot with no breeches and was able to get the regulars to fit with an overnight stretching and "the bathtub method" (which totally works!)

I definitely recommend giving them a try.

These sound good, although I guess they are too small in the foot. Might contact the person just in case...

Maya, any chance you could fit into a 7.5 foot? I have some older Effinghams sitting in the basement that might be perfect but they're a 7.5 wide calf, and should be 18" tall but i'll have to measure for sure.

JTM I used to be able to fit a 7.5 before I was pregnant :( now I'm a solid 8 or even 8.5. I'd be afraid that unless they run really big, they'd be too small. I also think 18" is too short. Thanks for thinking of me though!!

I had the same problem. My calf is smaller than yours (15") but I had a heck of time finding something tall enough that came wide enough. I hate the ariats and they were too short, didn't like the beval boots and couldnt really find much else.

Two options. Although I dont care for them, the Ariat Challengers coming a wide tall so those might work. Second, the der dau contour boot is 19" tall and I think if you got the 9 it would be 19.5" and a big enough calf.

good luck, I gave up got the Der Daus (which are a bit shorter htan I like) to last a few years until I get customs.
