I do not have Luekemia (sp) I have the things that begins with poly something Basically my marrow produces to much blood so I have to go every two weeks to have a pint of blood removed :argh: . For the rest of my life But on the good side of it if all goes well I will only have to go once every 3 mths for removal of blood.

HH, if you are happy, I am happy for you. I do have relatives who have leukemia and have been told they very well might die of old age. Not sure if it is the same kind, but if that was the best case scenario, then YEAH!

 Yay for "good" news!
So will you be able to donate this blood or do they just remove it and trash it? It stinks that you have to get blood drawn forever, but at least if you could donate it you'd be helping someone out at the same time.

SWG no unfortinality I will not be able to donate the blood they removed which really sux as I am O-. I asked and the Dr said no not with the pain meds in your system AND the huge clotting that is most likely going on in your body. My plateltes are really high as are my white blood cells. While they were removing it today it took a seperate person to make sure it didnt clot before it got to the bag I was filling. It was kinda neat in a spooky way to see the blood almost instantly clot when they removed the needle from my arm. The blood that was on hte tip of hte needle clotted almost as soon as they took it away from my arm. It makes me wonder how I managed not to have a clot kill me before I even knew that I had a problem.. BUT it is possible that hte upto 12 apsrin a day I was taking to relieve the pain in my fingers and toes kep that problem at bay. So I guess a short PSA is in order.
If you feel pain that was not there before and it hurts so bad it itches like a bee sting and it comes and goes but mostl stays day in and day out find out what is going on with your body. I honstly believe that the first symptom was last summer when I was wearing my paddock boots for he first time in almost a year and my toes bagan to hurt a lot and remained hurting a lot for several days then went away. I figured it was the boots as I hd not worn them in a while an my feet were just readjusting to them. Or if when you get out of the shower and you itch all over dispite using a mostierizing body wash/soap, And you are flushed, and what seems to be running a low grade temp( today it read at 101.5 F which is high for me as I normally run a 95-97 f body temp) for a while please get your self checked....
there is no cure for this stuff just maintaining it to keep the blood levels down and to prevent clots from forming.
I felt most of my pain in left toes and right fingers. dh says I had been flush for a 'long time'. I will have to go though the removal for hte rest of my life.
