Oh what a great video!! So cute! And looks SO fast! I wonder if it just looks that way on video? They both look fabulous and having such fun!!!
He's pretty green, so he still has to canter a little fast to keep his canter rolling, otherwise, he breaks back to the trot. I don't think that he looks fast, pace is right for a Division pony, but what you are seeing is that he still has a green horse canter, so it doesn't look as balanced as an older horse. This is only about his 8th ride since he's been here and his 15th in his life. He was started as a 3 year old and then he just sat until we bought him.

I will soon be teaching him how to do canter departures and collect and balance his canter, but were not there yet. He has given up doing "motorcycle turns", where he leans way to the inside, so we are making progress. :cheer:

I'm sure it's more that I haven't ridden a pony in YEARS but their little strides just make them look faster! :) No offense toward the pony or your daughter, though -- I'm just totally jealous! :teehee: Your daughter hardly moves - I imagine myself riding that pony and falling off after the first jump. :point:

No offense taken. :) I was just explaining what you are seeing. Ponies aren't usually this green at 6 years old. :psycho:

A Medium Pony Hunter will have to do an 11 to 11 1/2 foot stride down the lines, while most horses, no matter what size, only do 12', so forward is a way of life for Division ponies.

I think he looks great, and pretty darned together given his greenness! And I've said it before, but I just can't get over how much Sophia has grown. Where did that teensy weensy short stirrup munchkin go? :P
