I do want a new pair of Danskos but can't get up the gumption to fork over $110.00!!!!
I couldnt make myself spend the money either. So I asked for them for Christmas (yeah, same money, but I dont have to actually watch it disappear) and am so thankful for them. Best shoes Ive ever owned.
I love the look of them and used to wear them all of the time. However after going over on my ankle twice badly I have stopped wearing them much. What size and colour were you looking for CDE? I have a pair I have worn twice just sitting in the closet that would love to do some traveling :teehee:
Oh! BT if you have 38 or 39 that would be great! Any color is wonderful but RED is wonderfuller! :teehee: :teehee:

I pay for everything myself and usually don't bring it up. I'm sure he has an idea. I also don't say anything when he buys new custom race bikes...he now has 6 very expensive bikes in the garage!

I think we might be leading parallel lives...although mine wants to upgrade my bikes too, so it's all good. :teehee:

I don't offer up what I spend, but its a lot less then what it used to be. If Mr. EEM wants to know, he just logs into our bank account and looks at checks, I have nothing to hide. I'm very aware of how much I spend per month and wouldn't do anything that would cause any financial stress on the family. Trust me, I would love to buy everything on my "Pretty Things to Buy Gene" list right now (and I'm constantly adding to it), but I have 2 children (whom I spoil just as much) and I like to buy things for the house. But, I also like having money in the bank so I have spread out when and what I buy. Mr. EEM just bought a Harley so I must be doing something right. Then again, I have a very good relationship with my husband and he knows that Gene keeps me sane. I discuss what my plans are per month show wise and what it should cost us and we go from there.

Interestingly, for half of our relationship together, I was working and we had independent finances. Once I had the children, though, I stopped working and became financially dependent. Nothing changed on the surface, but it did make me feel ookier about spending money. Suddenly, I was spending money someone else had earned. That didn't feel quite as *right* as spending money I had earned. <shrug> I suppose that is the age old plight of the housewife. :teehee:

Isn't that funny how that goes.... I remember when Little FG came home and I quit my full-time job. I suddenly felt a huge loss of independence. We had always had joint accounts, entered into the major with no real assets on either side, and everything we had was shared and achieved together. But I felt really weird about no longer contributing financially the way I once had.

We do the finances together and any purchase over a few hundred dollars-- by either of us-- usually gets discussion. We're kind of nerdy like that!! What I've spent on horses over the years far outweighs any of his hobbies/purchases but he's always been supportive. Now that we have kids and such I have tried to drastically cut back on horse expenses. I figure someday down the line I will have the $ to splurge again on fun horse related things but right now the focus is on the kiddos.

Well when I got DT I didnt get a chance to tell him ( lucky for me he was a freebie). But Dt arrived home at 9ish PM on the 5th of May of what ever year it was.( I would have to look to be certian of year). the next morning Dh called me ( he was in the 'wild woolies' of Dayton Ohio on active duty) before he even said HI Happy Bday he asked. What breed, color ,sex, how tall and how much did it cost us...? I had been 'hinting' for about a month that I was most likely going to get a new horse and hekept saying no we cant afford to BUY a horse right now.. I took "buy' as a key word... He was happy that Dt was 'free' not so happy that I had gotten another mouth to feed. But when he came home that weekend he saw a 'good change' in me happier , lighter etc.. So he said I gues you can keep him BUT do not ever tell me how much it cost to keep him. He asked once when I had a load of hay delivered how much it cost .. I said nothing as the girl whos ponies I was taking care of bought it for all 3 horses to eat this year. So if he asks I tell if he doesnt I dont. But if I need a new coat or something over lets say 100$ I discuss it with him and we figure out the hows and the whens it will be possible... Then when I actually bring it home and it is a diffrent price than we thought it would be I just say more or less than we had originally thought.
