CL - your horses and your photos are always so gorgeous!! I think Arab's are one of the prettiest breeds of horses out there (and the most fun!)
I have to put a plug in for intelligent too... Sometimes these horses look at me like they are thinking human thoughts :innocent:

I have to agree with you here. The owners of my barn have a 24-year old Polish Arabian stallion. Lev is by far the smartest horse I've ever encountered, as well as one of the best mannered, sensible and versatile. Over the course of his life he has been a successful race horse on the Arabian racing circuit, a successful halter horse, has been bred several times, was a safe and capable trail horse for the husband BO. We don't turn them out together, but he always has gotten along beautifully with the other 3 horses in the barn, which until last year included an aged mare. I couldn't imagine keeping my horses in such close quarters with any other stallion, but with Lev it's a complete non-issue.

I totally agree! My Arab was SO smart.. he once figured out how to unlock his stall door, and when he did, decided to let EVERYONE in the barn out with him! That was fun :teehee:
Clyde is probably quite a bit Arab, and while he can be a total fruit loop, next to my full blooded Arab, he is the most loyal horse I've ever owned. Love, love, love Arabs/Arab crosses.

And you suck for looking that nice after giving a horse a bath. I'm one of those people that just has to walk into a barn and I end up looking dirty with fluffy hair! ;)

Pretty pictures! While I wouldn't want to own one, I do like looking as some pretty Arab pictures. :D

You all know Arabians are my favorite breed but even I can get a little tired of their energy level and acute sense of self preservation :teehee: That's why I am so careful as to which lines I own and breed... nobody, NOBODY likes a dangerous animal that outweighs them by several hundred pounds. I am sad that so many current breeders have sacrificed sanity for extreme type and that crazy trot (I mean if you want a Saddlebred... buy a Saddlebred already and stop morphing my breed!). Most of my horses are considered "classic"... I like to call them "retro" ;) They have old working lines up close, don't get me wrong, I like a pretty halter horse (both of my mares started out as halter horses, but had enough upstairs to be riding horses too) but ridability is #1 for me... it costs just enough to feed a super exotic psychopath that you can't ride as it does a pretty but not as extreme horse with a good work ethic.

My old roomie ended up working for an Arabian breeder who bred for the extreme halter type. None of the horses could be ridden, and even if they were broke, they were nutso...and not very sound. What a waste.

My favorite Arab, Pinot (Marie :teehee: ) is a Varian Arabian. He's lovely and I believe a lot of the Varians are. Sheila is crazy like a fox and kind of mean (at least that's the rumor around here), but at least she's breeding useful horses.

One of our nicest ponies is an arab. She moves and carries herself more like a Welsh than an Arab. She will also go western pleasure, and you can trail ride her. Two years ago she produced a crazy nice foal for us. We also have a hony thats half arab and he is a super star childrens hunter. I love a good Arab.

You can't beat a GOOD arab for brains!!!

When I was a kid the barn favourite schoolie was an Arab/QH cross named Dusty. I swear that horse taught every kid in the area how to jump. She was safe and careful with those who needed it, but would go to the shows with the older kids and bring home all the ribbons...
