Stick it in a bowl of uncooked rice. Seriously. I dropped my cell in the bathtub once and went onto the internet and googled something like "wet cell phones" and the internet told me to stick it in a bowl of rice, which apparently absorbs the water. Left it in there for a day or two, shifted it around once or twice, and it was fine.

I also put my phone on the dash of the car with the de-fogger on (after a day in the rice) and it started working again!

oh so blackberry has been in the rice and on my sunny windowsill now for 3.5 days. I put the battery in last night to see what it'd do and it didn't turn on, had a solid red light. Previously it had not been solid. Is it possible that it just needs to be charged, or is it done for good? I bought another on ebay but it hasn't come yet - torture!

It's probably toast :( You could try charging it, but it sounds like it's dead for good.

Yeah you're not that only one that's done that, so don't be too hard on yourself! I had luckily read about water damage a few days before mine went swimming, so I knew beforehand to just pull everything out as quick as possible and not touch it for a few days!

OMG so I got my "new" used phone from ebay today, and before I take it to Verizon to activate it, I double check my old phone and no dice, still doesn't start up. SOOOOO I spend all afternoon setting up my new phone and come home only to have my daughter turn on my old phone and it's working. :shoot:

SO anyone want a pink blackberry curve? Seriously, i could sell it on ebay but how do you get all your stuff off of it, like pics and preferences etc?

Clearly, you should have just pretended to take the new one for activation in order to make your old BB jealous and get it working again! This is just like BH2's lost glasses. Sorry, but I'm of no use regarding how to uninstall stuff.

If you didn't pay a bundle for the new one, keep it - I always hold on to SOMETHING as a backup! Or activate the new one and save the old one for a similar emergency

yeah Kikki, that is what I'm going to do...hold onto the older one in case I lose the new one or it becomes damaged. I so a long time to go before I'll be able to trade up (18 months) so best to have a backup. I'm so annoyed though!

I was thinking the same thing. It just seems to be the way life works.
