You could call him "Trip" for triple as in the 3rd dog.
Sorry, but Trip just reminds me of Sarah Palin. And at least for me, that's a very bad thing.
I like Palin, but not sure if I like "Trip", I just think of him tripping and breaking a leg. Told you guys that I'm picky!

Side note: Walking 3 dogs at a time is MUCH more entertaining than walking 2. Especially when kids are yelling and saying "Look at all the Pit Bulls!". Oy vey.

When I first looked at him, I thought Pax, but I like Brennen too.

Love "Chase"! Sounds good with "Wilson" and "Piper", too! That gets my vote.

I vote for Chase, too! Sadie's best, best friend is a shepherd mix who lives down the mountain from us and his name is Chase. They have been friends since Sadie was a pup and he is getting on in years now - Sadie is 7 and I think Chase is probably 12 or so. Every time anybody uses "Chase" in a sentence, Sadie runs to the window to see if he's here. They are so cute together.
And that's why I vote for Chase!

I like Chase, BF does not. Which doesn't really mean that's not going to be his name, but I'd like for him to like it. Ugh. I hate naming animals!

I'm pretty sure we're going to call him "Gunner", considering he looks like he got into gun powder. It's a name my dad suggested and it kind of stuck!

So Mr. Gunner isn't going to work out :(

This past weekend he decided that one of my cats, Sneak, would be a lovely chew toy. Since then, he will not leave the cats alone and I just can't risk them getting hurt. Gunner has a VERY high prey drive, and tends to 'lock on' to the cats when he sees them. Like if they come downstairs, then go back up (I have my 2nd floor gated off), he trots around the house searching for them for at least 5min., so he's a bit obsessive about it.

He has done ok with my Ragdoll, Brody, but since the Sneak incident he's been more keen to get to him as well. Unfortunately, my cats are totally helpless and will NOT protect themselves. They just lay down and (I guess?) try to 'disappear', but obviously that doesn't work. I was luckily right there when he pounced on Sneak and grabbed him, because I'm not sure what he would've done if I hadn't been. I'm just concerned that with the prey drive he has, when he gets to be an adult and CAN do major damage, what he will do.

I've tried working with redirection training, and it works 50% of the time, but as my trainer said, you can't just turn off prey drive in a dog. They either have, or they don't, or it's mild enough that it's easily worked with. Wilson & Piper have a prey drive, but it's more of a "Oh, I see you kitty, now I'll go back to sleep" kind of thing, and it's been that way since they were young pups. I think he'd be fine in a home where the cat would smack the crap out of him if he got out of line, mine just won't.

So Gunner will be returning back to his old home with the adoptions manager of the SPCA. I feel terrible, but I'm happy he won't be going to the shelter. I just can't risk the safety of my cats, as they come first before any newcomers.

Speaking of dogs & cats, just wanted to add a super cute picture of Piper yesterday cuddling with Brody (she just got spayed on Monday so was looking for a cuddle friend :cloud9: )

 awww, Kady, sorry to hear you can't keep Gunner...but you are making the RIGHT choice here. At least you know exactly what's up with his personality and the next person can adopt him who has the correct home environment and give him a home that suits him. There's no reason to endanger your other pets and it would be just a nerve jangling hassle for you to constantly be "on watch"...and if something happened it would break your heart. And nothing against l'il Gunner...he's just being himself!

But KUDOS to ya for trying! :cheer: :woot: I'm sure he'll find a great home! Jingles all around! :jingles: :jingles:

aww, that sucks about Gunner. But you're doing the right thing. You have to think of your family and what's best for them. Plus this is best for Gunner because he'll hopefully be able to get a home without kitties where he can be himself and have a good life. Someday there'll be a sibling out there for Piper & Wilson if it's meant to be.

That pic of Brody & Piper is adorable. They're both kind of giving you the stink eye - looks like Brody is trying to shield his puppy from the paparazzi with his paw :)

Yes that was the other reason I decided to take him back. I didn't want him to be constantly corrected for something that was just natural to him. That's no life for a dog!

LOL, I didn't notice how Brody's paw was in the picture.. "No more pictures please, we're sleeping!"

That's too bad. :sigh:

I think with as good as you are with training dogs, you should just foster dogs and then find them great homes. You'd be great at it. :cloud9:

I love the picture. So cute.
