Thank you all for the jingles in Mrs. Lost behalf. She had been having back pain for months. She had a couple of bulged disks but nothing off the charts. It progressed to the point that is hurt to move and her hips started giving her problems. She was walking like an old lady. Five docs, 2 MRIs and an mylagram (sp), unknown numbers of x-rays and we finally found out that she has arthritis in her hips and the joints of her back. The combination of the arthritis with the bulged disks had the muscles spasming in her back. The end result was nothing but major muscle relaxants and pain killers with steroids in the joints has broken the pain cycle. She is now up and walking doing much better. The doctor is putting her on a diet of yoga and Pilaties. (sp) The worst part is I am now going to be doing the them with her! That's right LF will be on a regimen of diet and exercise. I know in the end I will feel better to get a couple of sacks of feed off my waist. In the mean time I might just die! We have been doing some sadistic movement called a down dogs. What the hell! The next morning I couldn't sit up. Not it hurt to sit up I couldn't sit up. I ended up rolling over and crawling off the bed. It was brutal. What the hell is the CIA using water boards to break captives to talk? Give them to some 5' nothing 20 something yoga Nazi and I promise they will be begging to talk! I swear she is isn't 2 years out of high school and she is killing me. :duh:

So while Mrs. Lost is getting better I think I am going to die. I may suffer but I won't do it quietly! :innocent:

LOL, sorry I couldn't help but laugh at that, I have tried yoga too and I know it's brutal at first. It doesn't LOOK like exercise when you start but boy it is! But it will be good for both of you1

SO glad to hear Mrs. Lost has her back problem figured out, and even more glad to hear it doesn't involve surgery. :) Here's some more :jingles: :jingles: to help with her healing!

LF you crack me up..... oh I love the downward dog thing it feels so good. You will learn to love it too.... maybe! ;)

I am SO glad they got to the bottom of Mrs. LF's issues. I'm sure you guys are both relieved. And now she can get back to some semblance of normal life.. which means you and kiddos can too! Good things all around.

Mr. FG is a big guy and has a herniated disk in his back. Swimming helped him immensely after the initial injury. Not sure if you guys have a pool or access to a local pool but it may be something she can try this summer.

Anyway hugs all around and glad she is finally on the mend... enjoy the yoga... ha ha...

So glad that Mrs. Lost is on the mend. :cheer:

As for you LF, all I can say is    Just remember, what doesn't kill you will make you stronger.
And what a good hubby to be dieting and exercising along with your lovely wife (even if your suffering is not so silent). It's so much easier to stay with the program when your spouse is doing it too. Maybe if you're extra special nice, Mrs. Lost will slip you one of her muscle relaxants! :teehee:

Glad you are all feeling my pain. I really do think the end result of this is going to be good. I think this is my penance for thinking yoga and palaties is for sissies. :mallet: I used to mock my brother in law for his wimpy ass exercise program. Now I will still mock him but not for his exercise program. :point: LF

Haha that made me laugh out loud!!

Yoga can be hard. I just find it, for me, lacks that cardio element. But for stretching and basic strength building it's pretty full on. The other thing ibhave difficulty with is the lingo they use in class: ie: 'shine your light to the front' etc....I'm sorry but I'm still nit mature enough not to giggle.

Glad to hear mrs list us feeling better. I've only been cripples by back pain (spasms) once after a heavy day of carrying stuff awkwardly am it is terrible. I cannot imagine the agony of having that chronically. Jingles for continued improvement!!

So glad Mrs. Lost is on the mend! I've never had serious back issues but even minor ones are enough to make you get working on your fitness. My back is the reason I started doing pilates and I really need to get back to it; not only is it generally good but I worry that if I don't keep my abs strong enough I will hurt MY back again!

Don't forget that you can modify all the yoga/pilates positions so you don't hurt yourself. And you really should until you can do them pain free. Because it will take a while to build up the muscles to be able to protect your spine, so go slow and easy.

I remember the first pilates class I took I tried to keep up with the class. It doesn't really LOOK that hard. The next day I felt like someone hauled me off behind the barn and beat me with a 2 x 4. After that I would tell all newcomers to the class to NOT keep up, and NEVER do the parts where she says "you may follow me for advanced moves"...just stick with the basics!

Good luck! And have fun!
