He did have a history of a heart mumur and also recently had elevated liver enzymes which the vet thought indicated Cushings or something else.
Elevated Alk Phos is NON-specific, can be seen w/o consequence as dogs age, but it is a commonality in dogs with Cushing syndrome, but these dogs as well as have excessive thirst, are pot bellied, don't grow hair well and have little to no hair on their abdomens, are prone to recurrent UTIs, ear/skin infections, etc. W/o symptoms, therapy isn't needed. These dogs are at risk of having a PTE (pulmonary thromboembolism).

What a beloved dog with a grand life full of love, comfort and happiness. Bless all of you! :candle:

TBF, I'm so sorry for your loss. He sounds like he was such a fun dog and wonderful companion - and what a tough guy to have gone through so many mishaps and still be happy until the very end. He probably wanted to wait a bit to teach the new pup some lessons and give him a crash course in taking care of you and your family. Once he knew you'd be in good paws, he felt ok to let go.

TBF-
I always hate to open these threads because they make me cry so much. I always do open them though, out of respect for the beloved animals and those that love them. Hogan must have been a wonderful guy. Remember you are surrounded on this board by people that feel your pain....

Many      's to you.
