Oh my Kim I am so sorry about the loss of your son. I cannot imagine how difficult that was, and probably still is, in many ways. I can see how the idea that your beloved golden is with him now is comforting. I have no doubt the two of them are together in some peaceful place!

We sort of fell into Goldens because my husband was actually terrified of pretty much all dogs... except for the two Goldens at the farm where he lived, when he first moved to the US. So it made sense when we were looking for a pup to go with a Golden. I adore them and don't think I will ever be without one again, though it will be very hard to replace Miss Shandy!

BG I'm 35.5 weeks along.... I still can't believe we've made it this far!! The TOC jingles work! ;)

   Fishy, you are almost done! I'm sure this pregnancy has gone on forever for you, but it's flown by for me. :teehee:

There is nothing better than a sweet calm dog. There are always one or two dogs in a person's life that are really special. You are so lucky to have Shandy!

She is a super dog, and she just doesn't get the attention she deserves sometimes because she is so mellow and compliant!

Her only downfall is that she REALLY LIKES MUD and is able to find it even on the driest of days.... :teehee:

Flashy -- What a lovely tribute. It got me all teary. Shandy is a real beauty too. And I must say that you're quite wrong about Shandy the drink -- it's delicious. Saranac Ale makes a summer brew that is half beer and half lemonade and it is yuuuuummmmy!

Her Serene Highness Delia the black lab is our special girl. When I was undergoing chemo she was glued to me. On my bad days she'd just lie next to me and quietly keep me company. She's about to turn 8 and I sure hope we're lucky enough to have many, many more years to come.

Awwww, that is so sweet - animals are so amazing and I always feel like we're the lucky ones because they let us love on them and kiss them and cuddle them. I feel like we get more out of the deal than they do. I'm glad Shandy's been there for your during your pregnancy and how sweet of you to give her the props she deserves!

Very sweet! My mom has a corgi that is sort of in the same situation - he is just always in the background because he does not demand much unlike the others. He is perfect and so sweet, and a wonderful dog. He gets SO excited when he gets attention because he just doesn't get enough!

I did laugh at him today though because I got some pictures from my mom where he had somehow gotten the cat food dispenser (one of those plastic tall ones - I guess it was empty and the cats pushed it off the counter). Well the base and top had gotten separated and he got his head stuck in it! It was funny until my mom struggled to get it off! She doesn't know how long he had been stuck because he was just lying in his bed with it on his head when she got home for lunch. Good darn thing he could breath in it!

Well, she didn't realize he was stuck until a little while later! She just thought it was funny and took pictures and text messaged them to me and then called me and I was like, um I bet its stuck! She said she figured he'd be freaking out if it was stuck though. It was indeed stuck!

Kiki I love the story about the corgi!! Sounds like something Shandy would do. She too would just lay down and wait for someone to come rescue her!

I wish some of the people in my life were as sensible as she is. ;)

I am a HUGE fan of golden retrievers. I have had at least one in my life since I was 7. They are the BEST dogs. They just touch you in such ways.

My Maxine was my heart dog, I didn't plan it, it just happened (like Shandy) She ALWAYS knew what I needed, whether it be left alone, or comfort. She knew just how to do that to. I LOVED taking her for walks, we would talk, ok I would talk she would listen, with great interest I might add. I swear she understood ever word. She lived her life for me. I lost her in Oct at the age of 12 1/2, to osteosarcoma and I still miss her and cry. Reading about Shandy made me tear up because they are just such special dogs.

I also have Teddi (GR), I adore her. She too was lost when we lost Max. She worshiped the ground she walked on. Teddi and I are bonding. She is a special dog because I can't believe what she has gone through in her life, with more or less a smile on her face. Teddi is 3 now.

I have two labs at home I love very much, but they don't get me like my goldens do. I am looking for a puppy (GR) now. This search is so stressful, I want the best dog of course I know it will never be Max, no one will be.

There is NOTHING like a golden retriever, and I am glad Shandy has you to love and you have Shandy.

Ann
