Cup. Definately!! :cheer:
If the phrase"blood slugs" doesn't make you gag, you probably have enough sense of humor to handle the cup :one: It's SO.MUCH.BETTER.

sidetrack: Does anyone have any expereince with Seasonale? It's the BCP you keep taking daily; you only have four periods a year. I don't need BCP so I'm totally against taking something that I "don't need" BUT I have horrendous cramps with my cycle that may be related to my car accident, plus now I have a gallstone issue that is also somehow tied into my cycle. Grrrr-eeeat. :brickwall:

And I hurt like the bejubus today, even with my Diva Cup, so I thought I should ask. I've got a perscription to try it out, but thought I'd go looking (where else but here?!) for some worldy experience. I used to take the BCP every day and never have a cycle,(ahh that was loffly!!) but my new Dr thought that was a bad idea and said to try Seasonale instead.

I've heard good things about it. Technically, with ANY BC, you can take it continuously. That's what I do with mine. Didn't want to switch to the Seasonale since I do so well on my current one, so my Dr. just writes the prescription for continuous use. Ran into a few snags with insurance on that, but got it all ironed out!

How have I not heard of the Diva Cup? Must investigate, as things can get a tad messy for me as well and I'm tired of ruining undies on a regular basis.

kady, that's what I used to do but current Dr said Seasonale would be better.. I hope sit will be, I guess. I can't recall any problems with my old pills, even insurance was cool with it.

Another one here with horrible clotting the first few days!! I LOVE my DIVA cup!!! I have used it for about 2 yrs now and I love love love it! I do need to empty it much more frequently than most people ( every 3 -4 hours for the first 3 days) BUT I was changing tampons every 15 minutes so this is a HUGE improvement!!! You can buy them online ( they arrive in less than 2 days) and they are WELL worth the price ( I can spend over 20 a month on tampons!)

If this option does not thrill you how about cloth pads??? there are some on the market that work really well and I have heard they actually slow down your flow, I have not tried them because I like my cup but I know others who have and they really like them. I will try to find a few links!

I went ahead and got a box of Instead last night when I was out grocery shopping. Upon opening my first one, I'm skeptical as it doesn't look anything like the reusable cups, but I'll give it a shot! If nothing else these will tide me over and allow me to heal until I can order a reusable cup.

I found this and the choices have blown my mind...

I wonder if the Drs have ever checked into the possibility of magnesium deficiency with ladies who have very heavy flows?

I have had similar problems to you guys, and I just got a regular BC that is prescribed continuously. My concern with the cup is just that I feel like if something goes wrong, it would go very, very wrong. That and the website right above went into a little too much detail for me. The photo montages and all...

It is a great website! I also found this on Wikipedia (of all places, lol): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstrual_cup#Availability_by_country

It looks like my choices are DivaCup, FemmeCup, LadyCup, Meluna, MiaCup, and YuukiCup. Hmmm, what to do...

LOL, I understand those that aren't as comfortable with this stuff, which is why I had to apologize for starting this thread. I was raised differently than that, though. All girls summer camp and all girls boarding school erased most of my modesty about changing around women or talking about female stuff. That and the two greatest female influences in my life - my Mother and my Godfather's former wife - are very open with family about these things. They both taught me that the natural, biological workings of the female body are nothing to be ashamed of, and we should all be as educated about ourselves as possible.

So I hope that those who are uncomfortable with the topic have stopped reading, and those who are comfortable have learned about some new choices for themselves.

It's not that I'm uncomfortable talking about it, but the visual of the used Diva cup was a bit much LOL.

I take my Yasmin continuously. You can do that with any MONOPHASIC pill, but not the triphasic. I usually do 12 weeks on, 1 off. If I go much longer than that I have breakthrough bleeding.
