A huge thank you to everyone who offered advice on redoing stall floors and installing mats. This is the big weekend - we've had the mats for a few weeks now, but the weather wasn't cooperating for having the 23 tons of crushed stone fines delivered. Today, my husband and I added almost 10 tons of stone fines and 1200 lbs. of rubber mats to two of our stalls. We're very pleased with how they turned out. We ended up going with the Linear Rubber custom cut two piece interlocking mats. It was a b*tch to move such large, heavy mats, but those babies fit the stalls great and are not going to budge! So, now all we have to do is crawl out of bed tomorrow morning and do it all over again to finish the last two stalls!

SO, did you get them finished and how tired are you exactly ;) Installing mats is EXHAUSTING but so nice when they are finished!

I still have one mat for my extra stall that we've never put in because all 3 mats will need to be cut and it's just soooo exhausting! If you ever wondered if your barn is "square", install mats and find out. I hope you were luckier than we were! We have to cut them all in weird ways and the last time we pulled them out to "clean" underneath we never got one stall back together well. We know it's the right mats, etc., but somehow they are too big. Needless to say, since they do fit together so tightly, we probably won't pull them out again!

Congrats on your accomplishment!!

Yes, we finished!!! I was so sore this morning - even brushing my teeth and washing my hair hurt! But they turned out great and we love them  We had to do a good bit of cutting, but thank goodness my husband took care of that - I could barely make a dent in them. Once we got the first stall done, the rest were much easier (but no less tiring) since we figured out a good system for moving and aligning the mats.

TBF - If we ever have to remove the mats to clean underneath them, I think I'll hire someone to do it :teehee:

Wow. That does sound exhausting. I have concrete under my mats and just putting in the mats and cutting them was work enough. I can't imagine hauling stone dust and then having to do the mats. Take some tylenol and get a good nights sleep.

Awesome! I remember your original post asking for advice. It's a hard, dirty job, but once it's done, it's DONE. And you will be so happy with your floors for years to come!
