I got a Rhino Wug Lite on sale a few weeks ago from an online tack shop. I'd shopped with them before and had a very good experience, so I felt good ordering the sheet. My mare has worn it ~5 times, and then this morning I got an e-mail from my BM telling me that the buckle on the rear surcingle has come unstitched. Thinking Miss Mare had perhaps done something stupid, I went this evening to pick it up and see whether it was fixable.

Well, turns out it's a manufacturing defect. It's obvious that instead of having 1"+ of nylon webbing sewn under to form the loop that holds the female end of the surcingle buckle, the rear surcingle buckle was held on by perhaps a quarter-inch of nylon and one line of stitching. I never would have thought to check that out before using it.

Here are the pictures: http://bit.ly/1XRzsX

I've contacted the shop I bought it from and am hoping they will be able/willing to contact Horseware for me and get this fixed. I don't need or want a new turnout; I just need them to remove the defective strap and put a new one on that's the right length and stitched properly.

So ... check how those surcingles and accompanying hardware are stitched on before you go home with that new binkie. ;)

Thanks for the heads up! My tack store just called to say the Rhino Wug I ordered for Liv was in. I'll make sure I check it over before I take it home.

YIKES! Glad it was caught before there was an issue - Good catch on the barn staff's part. Hope you get it remedied quickly!
