So Im shopping for a new trailer. I have several requirements due to my not so happy being in a trailer warmblood mare. Has to be a slant load with nothing that she can put her front legs into. (She climbs in the manger of current trailer with both front feet and therefore has to haul in the back of my very old stock trailer) No ramps, cause they scare the crap out of me. Must be bumper pull. Must have dressing room (to many years with no dressing room). Im looking for a two horse or three horse. Needs to be practical to just hook up and go. (We have two other large trailers for bigger trips) So my mom found a 2008 Trails West Adventure trailer. Looks rather nice, but I know nothing about them. Anyone own one or know anyone that owns one that would like to share any inside on it?

I looks very basic and not overly durable. I had a similiar one (not a Trails West Model) and it required a lot of upkeep. Look at the rivets and the seams. Also, look how the skin is attached to the frame. Mine would pop the rivets and the skin would come loose from the frame. Really scary when the roof almost blew off! See how the aluminum wheel well does not have a cover over the raw aluminum edging? Minimal reflective lights on the front and side and none on the upper part over the window. Stuff like that suggestes they cut corners. I would keep looking. |

Trails West are the "go-to" trailer brand around here. This model is the most basic version, but I've never heard any complains... If you like the Trails West, look for a used Classic II... |

Where are vents/air flow - I don't see that. Trails West are sold around here - so far to new to tell how they age. (Featherlites around here are still going at 25+ yrs) (Trailets still going at 20 yrs) |

Off topic a bit, but.... I took my Trail Et two horse to a guy today to see about getting it repainted and looked at the registration. It is a 1988! It has been a great trailer and horses seem to be really comfortable in it. |

We have a Trail-et 2 horse BP that is vintage 1992 - we got it cheap 5 yrs ago - the person selling it just put it out in his yard with 'for sale' on it. We bought it as a bop-around instead of the monster camper rig and potential investment - we paid $ 1000 for it and could sell it right now for $3000. New tires, fresh paint, fully rubbered from shoulder to butt and feets, medium dressing room. They seem to last forever, don't they?? |
