Today I sent in my application to the Master Gardener program. They only offer the program once every 2-3 years and only accept 15 people. I won't know if I even get an interview until November, but maybe y'all could jingle just a little for me.

I really want this :luck:

:jingles: :jingles: :jingles: :jingles: adding my jingles and just a note to let you know that my garden sure could use some help from a master gardener (plus being in Canada, I can provide limitless varieties of potato chips, and tam tams for you!) :teehee:

Sounds like a great idea, BT! :teehee:

If I'm accepted the classes start in January and run until May. The idea behind the program is that the State gives you really intensive courses in horticulture plus continuous learning programs and you pay them back with volunteer service. I talked to someone with an actual bachelor's degree in horticulture and he said he learned more practical info in the MG program than he did in college.

I wish you guys were close to me- I've got some major thinning to do in some of my beds and lots of plants looking for new homes! Now it just needs to stop raining so I can get out and play in the dirt (and ride my ponies!)

Tarragon, I think the extension service here has a similar program...it sounds wonderful...and what better way to gain experience and knowledge in something you love that you could turn into a nice little consulting business or something later on. Always nice to have several irons in the fire. :luck: :luck: :luck:

YAY! I got the call and I have an interview on November 4th. The lady I spoke with said it was a very informal interview, nothing to be nervous about, so hopefully it's just a screening process to weed out the real crazies ('cause I'm only a little crazy ;) )and I'll get in!
