I know I've been a wee bit quiet on the board lately, but it as been a busy summer between work, horseshow grooming the kids at the barn and starting and backing my 3yr old! I do pop in now and then and have a good read and catch up. I had to come here tho and share my excitement with all of you over my weekend. Some of you will remember my filly... I bought her as an almost 2 yr old looking like this ![]() It has always been my dream to show a horse at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. I kinda hoped that I might be able to turn her into a horse that could show in the Governor General's Cup (Canadian bred 3yr olds in hand) and The Lieutenant Governor's Cup (undersaddle) at the RWF. This weekend the first of 2 qualifiers were held. They take the top 17 out of my area. About 40 horses entered to attempt to qualify. My filly was a little overwhelmed by the extra horses in the ring (not to mention she was in raging heat and her braids were making her out of her mind!) but managed to stand up nicely for the judge. We pulled it out great trotting in hand on the triangle and made the cut! Final round of 25 my little girl stood up well and was beautiful trotting in hand again. To my absolute shock we were called out of line in 6th place!! GG Cup Qualifier Final cut In the LG Cup qualifier we started up a little up. I couldn't just let go and relax since all she wanted to do was canter. She did break to canter a couple of time at the trot but eventually settled and pulled out all the stops during her canter work. We squeaked into the final cut (called back last in my group!) In the final the judge decided on individual assessments and had us trot and canter on a circle with a change of direction at the far end of the ring well away from the group. Sasha had a nap while she was waiting her turn. Clearly she was much more relaxed! We ended up 6th overall in this qualifier too. She was wonderful for her test. I love my little mare.. and after the weekend it seems that my dream of getting to compete at the Royal will be coming true! Here is a link to the video of her Final individual assessment. Enjoy Accoladez Edited by retired4now, Sep 21 2009, 10:02 AM.
